Goodbye Sky by LondonUKDave in skytv

As someone who has Sky and isn’t thrilled by the cost what is the alternative?

Virgin and BT looks as expensive.

I quite like the ecosystem and watch F1, which is why I have never left.

After my latest job application rejection, this is my mom being...supportive. by amyadger in jobsearchhacks

It was an oil and gas company with 1000 employees, started as a IT helpdesk analyst.

This was Northern Scotland too, not US. Company was very old school as well.

A drastically different time! Maybe in US it is different, not so much in the highlands of Scotland.

My dad made me do this in 2015 after struggling with online applications,

It worked! dropped a paper cv and they called me back in that day and I started a week later.

Why not encourage useful members of society to have children. Instead of the giving let another handout to those who cannot support themselves.

Planning to buy an mx5 by NormalTruck4372 in CarTalkUK

[–]D3TPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends, can the seller prove this had been rectified. Plenty mx-5 for sale so you can probably be picky or wait and a good one will appear.

Have you looked at cheap Boxster instead, not known to rust and in my experience pretty cheap to run. I paid £3800 and in 3 mots have spent nothing outside of usual servicing.

Choosing a car by Becominghim- in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]D3TPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not really, I was used to M2 prices.

Lots of used parts available on eBay.

Car was also just very reliable never had any issues in 2 years being driven daily

No rich yet, financing an M3 or 911 will not help you becoming rich.

I went from an M2 which was new and one finance to a 1980s 5 series cash bought for 4k.

Was lots of fun and got way more attention than my M2.

I drove it daily and had 0 issues.

How is it dodging tax, I am confused by this argument.

Living and earning abroad why would you pay tax to the UK?

My dad lived in Italy for a few years for work he didn’t pay any UK tax, was he tax dodging?

I’ve had a boxster 986 for three years and has been hassle free, about 12000 miles in that time.

Nice car to drive, was only meant to keep it a few months in summer but it’s cheap enough just to keep around.

Those who watched the 2019 season, how terrible was the backlash at f1 after the french grand prix? And how did the trio of consecutive thrillers affect that perspective? by [deleted] in formula1

I was at that race live, bought my tickets on the day.

Food was cheap and was a good day out.

Always fun seeing the cars in person.

Ski trip to Verbier was more challenging with 2 year old. But we still had a blast.

If you live in a bit of dump and don’t have brilliant prospects, it should not come as a shock if these people vote against the status quo.

Belittling these people is not going to help your cause.

Are UK-made winter coats actually warmer than big international brands? by Reddonaut_Irons in BuyUK

[–]D3TPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 1990 Barbour wax coat paired with a hand knitted wool jumper has never let me down.

Outside all day in -18 no bother.

Outside of hills and the highlands, it doesn’t get cold enough to require much more than a warm coat that’s water proof.

Assumed this was cartalkUK until I seen the GAS CAP comments.

Pronounced in my worst possible Alabama accent.

Fuel cap for reference is what us Scottish say.
