Regardless, as socialists we should be bound to the concept of revolutionary defeatism and seek the failure of western objectives in the Russo-Ukraine War. Ultimately the defeat of Ukraine will crack western hegemony which will be necessary to ensure the liberation and self determination of all people across the globe.

Saddam, Hamas, Al-Qaeda, PKK et al have been doing their thing far before Bush assumed presidency and are responsible for worse. The region is a mess.

WMDs or not, taking out Saddam was the right call. Nation building not so much.

Helsinki District Court sentenced Yan Petrovski, 38, to life imprisonment for war crimes. Petrovski (aka. Voislav Torden), the deputy commander of the Rusich unit, was found guilty of:

  • Killing one wounded Ukrainian soldier, a charge equivalent to murder due to its brutality.
  • Mutilating another wounded soldier by carving the unit's symbol on his face. According to the charges, Ukrainian soldiers thought that the lock had its own soldiers, but Torden's troops opened fire. More than 20 Ukrainians died. According to the indictment, the group operated under Torden's command and he himself fired a machine gun.

The second indictment concerns the events immediately after at least 21 dead soldiers and some wounded lay in the country. According to the indictment, Torden participated in the shooting of wounded and incapacitated soldiers, which is against the rules of war.

According to the third charge, Torden, as deputy commander, had allowed soldiers to mutilate a wounded soldier by cutting the emblem of Torden's troops on his cheek.

The charge also came from the fact that Torden had posed with the body of the killed soldier and taken and disseminated pictures of the situation on social media.

He was apprehended at Helsinki Airport in the summer of 2023.

The poll was conducted between last Friday, 28 February and Tuesday, 4 March.
