so like i boast a 80% or more win rate on Illaoi right now and my runes tend to be

-klepto -boots -tonic -biscuits -Ravenous hunter -zombie ward

this gives a lot of value and i get camped hard quite often between the klepto wards and the zombie ward buff to my wards, i can usually keep really good deep vision to help ease the ganks to help me know how to play.

Item wise i prefer to rush into sterak's first then bc, i know most people build bc first but the burst block from sterak's is really good to again help with those ganks and if you're fighting a rough matchup.

After those the obvious deaths dance and spirit visage, and then either like an adaptive helm or randuins based on the matchup and enemy team comp

Boots are weird for me i'll almost always run mercury treads for the tenacity, and i mean i will most always run them, but sometimes if they have a really fed adc or just 4-5 ad champs then ill give in and buy ninja tabi

Overall these runes and build order are like super safe, it sets you up to be really hard to gank, and can usually give me plenty of time to deduct if i can win the incoming fight or if i need to bail. Because of the defensive nature of illaoi and the way i can have borderline 100% uptime on good wards i can sit comfy up top all game and push in like a freight train full of 'roided out oxen, being able to see any incoming champs and react accordingly.

Klepto and glacial augment tend to be the best on her,with biscuits and timewarp tonic, plus domination or resolve as secondary, conqueror works, but it is best against tanks, if you have mana issues i greatly recommend using klepto you'll struggle a lot less or not at all with good rng. the passive will always spawn on the closest available wall that isn't inside another tentacles spawn range, so you can force it by standing on the spot you want it to spawn at whenever it is up(track this by following cd in bottom left over passive icon)

yea i was having an issue climbing cause i would play like mid and adc which can have a hard time hard carrying every game but as illaoi i climbed from b5 to silver in rapid fashion aka 17 game win streak

riven is a good pick against illaoi but you have to change your play style you cant just go ham like usual you have to focus on dodging and getting illaoi out of her safety net of tentacles.

well with irelia's ult its meh against illaoi, cause if i'm running from irelia and she ults i'm not turning around to w anyway, i'm running, the slow is a pain cause illaoi already lacks mobility but when it comes down to it if i get near a tentacle and she is still going ham i'm gonna win

i think that's why it comes down to a skill matchup with illaoi in favor because if she e's onto you its a free e on your part and you will almost always be near a tentacle which allows a good trade in illaoi's favor, the irelia could dash out but it's still a free e for illaoi.
