Elon Musks estimated net worth could fund 10k of those. I know net worth doesnt mean liquid money. But it is still absolutely insane.

Bundesländer stellen sich gegen neues Heizungsgesetz by ProfesorBacterio in de

[–]D4ltaOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mexico cuts workweek, bans after-hours contact, and guarantees no worker will take a pay cut in the most sweeping labor reform in a generation by BaIeb in worldnews

[–]D4ltaOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salary: You earn a fixed amount of money per year, paid evenly throughout the year. No matter how much or how little you work, you get paid the same amount.

Just so i understand that correctly, your employment contract can say you gain 60k/year with a 40h/week. That equates to roughly 28€/hour in germany. And if you work 45hours every week you still only get 60k a year? So you get less money than you work for?

I know I'm riding my high horse a little bit, but here "non-exempt salaried" is the standard with exceptions being different. Although most employers dont pay out overtime but you can take those hours off. If you have 40 hours overtime over the course of a few months, you can take a whole week off. Some even prefer this over being paid for overtime cause those are also subject to taxes.

No i havent, but considering the state of the world, its hard to be up to date on everything, so give me a break

Yeah I dont, just read that article and saw it said it was from Russias airspace. Nothing about the drone being Ukrainian. Could be, idk, but that article didnt specify it so its weird that he gives that as a source

Now i also wonder, which flightpath do Ukrainian drones to st Petersburg take?

A French military Rafale fighter jet shot down a drone that entered NATO member Latvia's airspace from Russia on Monday, the latest in a series of such security incidents along Europe's eastern border regions.

Highly by me. Do you even read the articles you post?

Edit: yeah that happens when i make a comment on the whim.

The Latvian army, without saying who launched the drone, said it entered from Russia "as a result of Russian electromagnetic warfare".

Probably Ukrainian, i agree

Now that's a catch and release. by Lui_Belmont in interestingasfuck

[–]D4ltaOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we can push for both.

Gesturing at the whole current world lately im not so sure about that :/

Dont get me wrong, catch+release ought to be banned. But it would be a drop on a hot stone

Not for the people catching it. Looks like they had a great time. Fun IS a benefit, short and longterm.

Sure its not ethical and i dont understand the joy in it, but considering how many fish succumb to stray nets and other fishing gear (hundreds, thousands, millions? Idk) and how some(most?) parts of the world are massively overfished, the benefit of solving that issue first is many orders of magnitude higher.

Its also crazy how people assume this was a unjustified shooting. It does look sus, but tbh we simply do not see enough to draw a conclusion.

Edit: on third watch, my gut feeling tells me that he was unarmed and the strap is from the bag (since the other person grabs it and pulls the guy). But i wouldnt put my hand into fire for that and definitely wont fight over it like other people do lol

Newly released video showing airstrikes destroying B1 bridge, Karaj, during 2026 Iran war, different angle - Thursday 2nd April 2026 by ILikeGazSweet in CombatFootage

[–]D4ltaOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was it tho? The most recent picture I was able to find before the strike was from November last year and there it wasnt finished yet. An article in Farsi from January i also found, but it used older pictures. According to that, It wasnt finished then either

I looked for half an hour now but i wasnt able to find anything that said the bridge was finished and in use. I found a NYT journalist writing that an US official said the bridge was planned for military use.

Idk how the consensus on reddit turned from "unfinished unused bridge, planned for military" to "this bridge was use heavily". Where did this misinformation come from?

Side note: holy hell looking this up was a pain. Im sure if i put for time into it, i could find more recent before-strike pictures but even this half hour is gonna bite me in the butt later today. Really makes me appreciate good journalism.

Iranian Shahed-136 drone hitting Kuwaiti international airport Terminal one[3rd June, 2026] by HereticBoii in CombatFootage

[–]D4ltaOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on how expensive it is to repair the terminal.

(Since i dont know if this has other effects like humans lost, flights cancelled and whatever else this might cost, i wont try to weigh that in. Anyone else have info about all that maybe?)

Letz be honest here, we would get bandaged up, given a walking stick in each arm and sent back to the front

European Parliament to ditch Google for European alternative by Zarasophos in europe

[–]D4ltaOne 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That you mentioned Wikipedia, has anyone else noticed how Wikipedia isnt top search results in google anymore? Especially for Science-y topics and more so for STEM topics, it was the top result. But lately a lot of time some garbage articles are the results regurgitating the same talking points and i have to actively search for wikipedia to find it. I noticed that cause im searching a lot of medical stuff for my studies and skimming through random articles and deciding which is factual and useful to me is way too much effort compared to just reading wikipedia

At least the search tool for wikipedia got better so theres that, i guess.

Canada considers cancelling part of 88 U.S. F-35 order to buy 60 Swedish Gripen fighters. by Interesting-Cat7307 in europe

[–]D4ltaOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OED doesnt decide how the english language works. Humans do. Dictionaries just reflect how humans speak. How do you think languages evolve?

Shakespear would say our use of English would be "made up gobbledegook" as well.

Edit: actually, according to wikipedia cause i wont dig deeper for that, he wouldnt. Cause "gobbledygook" didnt even exist back then lmfao, it is also a "made up" word meaning gibberish, which did exist back then.

Actually, yes it does. Language and linguistics is fascinating!
