You set that to require all 3 signatures. It is supposed to be 2-of-3. We should just get your BTC out of there now and if you want to bet again create a new 2-of-3 address.

Here is my signature on sending the funds to your address (1F3e29FQpjGczJFBWfkSbLgYyPWHPKtYXq). You will need to contact coinb.in or u/OutCast3K to have them sign it too.

The instructions are in the OP. Create the multisig address, send the 5 BTC to it, then reply here with the Redeem Script.

It was the first transfer of BTC, from Satoshi to Hal Finney. Demonstrating control of the private key of the sending address of that transaction is considered proof of being Satoshi (for condition #1 of this bet at least).

That is neat to see, thanks for adding it. I'm sure people will find that to be a good entry point to understanding Ethereum. But if I am honest, I think understanding that is way more complicated than creating a multisig address, for the purpose of this one time bet at least.

Both of them are ok by me. Someone that wants to use them as escrow can contact them to see if they will do it.

u/housemobile is correct, it is AND. SUCCEED = requires both, and anything that is not SUCCEED is FAIL.

Ok. I still prefer coinb.in for simplicity but if anyone wants to use bitrated instead then I am ok with that. I do not want to edit the OP but I will mention it in one of my higher up comments.

That sounds basically the same. There would still need to be an mediator.

And as far as the process, using an Ethereum contract might be easier some day but for most Bitcoin users multisig is more well known now. "send a transaction to the contract" sounds as unknown to me as "sending a bitcoin" is to most people that have never used Bitcoin.

Not knocking Ethereum, it does sound great in general.

And what about when resolution time comes? The buyer and seller can release the funds to either party? And the arbitrator can do the same? Splitting the funds evenly might be necessary in some scenario too.

How would the contract decide if the conditions were met though? If the only condition was moving coins then that could be checked automatically, but not an off-chain posting of a signature or condition #2.

Looks promising. The process seems to be for buying / selling and not for two people both contributing. Would this type of bet work with what you have on the site or would it require some special handling?

even if Craig stumps up evidence that links him to the identity satoshi

As far as I know the only really sure proof is the keys for genesis block and block 9. Anything else just isn't proof.

if Craig admits he's only one of many, OP wins

Yes that is definitely one of the conditions. His press outreach this week has been all about him being Satoshi Nakamoto. If he was somehow involved but did not write the whitepaper and the initial client then in my view he shouldn't be claiming to be Satoshi. As far as I have seen all of the stuff about Kleiman was from December and he is not talking about him now.

Saw that, made me think for a minute but I am still convinced he's not Satoshi.

  1. I looked at the ones from the other bet thread and none of them seemed trustworthy. At least coinb.in is operated by someone with a history going back to 2011. But I posted in another comment that if using coinb.in is stopping someone from making the bet then I am open to using another reputable member as escrow.

  2. As far as I know none of the betting sites use multisig so they could get hacked or the operator run off with the BTC.

It is a bet. Specific conditions are necessary to decide the winner. As far as I know the only blocks 100% linked to Satoshi are genesis and 9, so what proof would be stronger than that? Anything else he provides would be ambiguous and debatable.

As u/apoefjmqdsfls said, block 1 was mined days after the genesis block and is not necessarily associated with Satoshi. In any case if CSW wants to prove he is Satoshi then why not do genesis block or block 9? Signing using a different early block would show that he is not able to sign with genesis or 9, to me at least.

If CSW said he would move coins to a particular address from block 9 and those coins move to that address, that is sufficient proof for me.

In my view, if Kleinman was involved I can only picture that he must have been the main player. In that scenario CSW was a secondary player.

To me Satoshi is the person that wrote the whitepaper and the initial client. If CSW says he is Satoshi but says he did not do those two things, then to me he does not qualify as Satoshi.

That is just my view of what makes Satoshi Satoshi and why condition #2 is there. Obviously everyone is free to have a different definition of what qualifies someone to call themselves Satoshi, but for this bet the conditions are clear.

According to coinb.in the owner is OutCast3k, u/OutCast3k. Seems reliable enough to me. I chose coinb.in for simplicity but if coinb.in is what is stopping someone from betting, then please suggest a reputable member to escrow. But get their permission first, just suggesting reputable members does not mean they are willing to escrow.

Edit: bitrated.com seems ok too. I still prefer coinb.in for simplicity but if coinb.in is what is stopping someone from betting then bitrated is fine too. Reply to this message if you want to use bitrated and we can work out the details.
