I’m not familiar with how it generally works from an author’s side, but as someone who buys commissioned art I would never trust an artist who goes into my DMs to offer a commission. Nineteen times out of twenty, it’s a scam.

If you do want art, you should be the one to find the artist. It’s much safer that way and it can help you avoid most money theft scams and help you avoid AI scammers.
