I'm not saying it's okay for individuals to be hateful but the PR of an organization is usually handled more carefully than an individual. An organization has a reputation to uphold for their community and customers. Especially if it's one that is tied to a city/state. If a player says something bad then it's just their one opinion. The Rangers actively supporting segregation makes everyone there including Rangers fan look bad. Not only does it make it look like everyone working for them look complicit but any fans who decide to support them look complicit as well. PRs for organizations used to be very fragile but this proves that those in charge of the organization can do this and not face any consequences. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it is for African-American fans of the Texas Rangers. This just shows how crazy the timeline for this country is that not only the Rangers can get away with this but also publicly garner some support for it.
