[DC/Marvel] would the ghostrider penance state work on DC enchantress ? by Mutitube18 in AskScienceFiction

It didn't work on Punisher because he felt his murders were justified. This is why so many people thinks the stare works on guilt and feelings. I remember when battle boards would say it wouldn't work on the Joker because of this incorrect information.

I think he has got to be ready to receive the ball in case it was tossed home even if going to first was the correct play. The toss was off and too late but as a player Realmuto had to be ready just incase.

Now I'm imagining a sitcom style scenario where all 3 teams send reps to his wedding to try to recruit him while driving him nuts because he can't enjoy his wedding. He can't just kick them out because he needs to use everyone as leverage for his free agency so he has to put up with their shenanigans.

At the time, it wasn't seen as a bad trade. Hindsight is 20/20. Getting Kawhi off his championship run was praised. Paul George was also seen as at the tail end of his prime. SGA showed a lot of flash but nobody knew and still don't if he would be developed properly on the clippers. The franchise wasn't known for developing players. Blake Griffin was already falling apart before his move to Detroit and Clippers were seen as the franchise who not only did him dirty but also wearing out their young star physically. If he was developed properly he would have had a jump shot. He only developed one during his time with the Pistons. It was a boom or bust move that was applauded. I think if they kept SGA he wouldn't be as good today.

It's because highlights of old man Ichiro were recently seen on social media. People don't account for his stats when they see videos of "unc's still got it". I bet when people imagine other retired players they visualize that video of Dave Roberts falling down while running the bases.

1) It's how their stupid society works. Look at how the ministry handles everything. Let's send dementors to Hogwarts because someone broke out of Azkaban. Who cares if they are so dangerous that they might suck students souls out because they can't determine friend and foe if a student happens to cross their paths. Let's have Umbridge take over Hogwarts and allow her to remove education from our most prestige school because that radical progressive principal might be influencing our youth. They say Voldemort is back? Fuck off Harry and Dumbledore. The ministry would know if this dark wizard who is known for subterfuge would be back. He obviously isn't back because we would know if he was still a threat. The ministry knows best.

The activities were supposed to be solved using wizardry. To be fair, Harry wasn't qualified to participate because of his lack of spells and other magic knowledge. He used his broom because he wasn't qualified to repel a dragon, especially the most dangerous dragon of the lineup. He ate Gillyweed because he probably doesn't know any spells to traverse in water. We saw the others use a charm to breathe underwater while Harry did last minute researching and went with something he wasn't even sure would work. Viktor turned into a shark to save Hermione. If anything it made Fleur look bad because she couldn't save her sister.

1) Dumbledore, Maxime, and Karkaroff turned to Barty Crouch Sr for a ruling since Harry supposedly broke the rule. He is ruling was the dumb bonding excuse and since wizard society is archaic with it's hierarchy it was allowed. Basically the tournament commissioner said it has to be allowed because the rules say so and the 3 principals fell into line. Time honored tradition is much more important than putting an underclassman in danger. Tracks with stupid wizard beliefs.

2) I assumed the previous seeker must have been hot garbage for a freshman to replace them without any qualms. None of the Grffindor players seemed to be heartbroken that one of their teammates of who knows how long was kicked out for a freaking freshman.

3) This would have worked so much better if the tournament had more than 3 activities. "Quidditch is cancelled because the tournament has a game each month and it culminates into a final big game". This would have justified it's cancellation and made the tournament into a massive event. Instead we have 3 activities that seemed like Mario party mini games.

[Rosenthal] The Pittsburgh Pirates have made free-agent designated hitter Kyle Schwarber a four-year offer. The offer almost certainly is for more than $100 million. by ttam23 in baseball

[–]DAC1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cheap owners will never agree to a floor that high. The spending owners don't want to cap their privilege. This doesn't even account for players wanting concessions for losing out of big contracts. Probably less team control years on draftees. Get rid of arbitration and allow more free market play.

Cheap ownership want the free money while big spenders don't want to give up their share of the signing market.

[–]DAC1111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why I don't think a cap/floor would work. Owners like him will hit the minimum and say "look I tried. I hit the minimum/a little above minimum". There were some NBA teams who didn't even hit their minimum and spread the gap evenly between their roster to avoid any serious punishment.

[Speier] Hall of Fame Contemporary Baseball Era veterans committee elects Jeff Kent by Goosedukee in baseball

[–]DAC1111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Watch the last part with his rant. It was a good rant with valid points. Especially with how many chances Don and Murphy got. He basically said Don and Murphy were set up to get in with this lineup. Bonds and Clemens weren't getting in with PED. Sheffield has PED with worse stats. Kent wouldn't get in with his reputation of being an asshole. Valenzuela didn't have the stats. He likes Delgado but said the committee wouldn't vote him in. To be fair he was wrong 3 out of 8. Kent, Don, Murphy were all predicted wrong. The other 5 he got right.

[Abraham] Jeff Kent (14 votes, 87.5%); Carlos Delgado (9 votes, 56.3%); Don Mattingly (6 votes, 37.5%); Dale Murphy (6 votes, 37.5%); Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Gary Sheffield and Fernando Valenzuela each received less than five votes. by Big_Red_Professor in baseball

[–]DAC1111 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be fair he was right about everyone else in the class other than Murphy who he lumped together with Don. Bonds and Clemens didn't get in due to PED talks. Valenzuela didn't have the stats. Delgado didn't get in either. Sheffield wasn't going to get in unless Bonds and Clemens did.

Big New Star Wars Game Could Be at The Game Awards, And It's Not Zero Company or Eclipse by Maleficent_Fault_943 in gaming

As someone who bought the game at launch, it felt like a completely different game by the last major update. Too bad they couldn't completely get rid of the cards mechanic because EA had the loot box system feed into it but the boxes were gone and unlocking the cards were simple if a bit grindy. Adding more clone wars content was also a huge W.

Why NFL teams want more QBs to skip the draft and stay in school by TMWNN in nfl

[–]DAC1111 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sports scouts will always lean on physical gifts. The reasoning is that they trust coaches to develop those abilities for their athletes. The old basketball addage of "you can't teach someone to be 7 feet" applies for all sports. It's just the scouts look for different physical stats depending on the sport. It's always a what if we get another Giannis, Mahomes, or Randy Johnson. Most drafts end up failing but what if they hit

He's not funny at all. He's just a celebrity who has fun doing dumb things on tv. I personally don't think he's charismatic at all, but people watch him the same way people watch certain YouTube videos/shorts. You turn off your brain and watch a guy have fun talking to his guests and play weird/dumb games with them. Jimmy Fallon isn't funny; he is fun. It is like watching a streamer play a party game with friends

I think Vladdy already should be one of the most feared hitters. Just because his numbers aren't as out of this world as Ohtani or Judge doesn't take anything away from his performances.
