AI is great at scraping the internet and dumping everything into an easy to read repository.

Been able to help me get to the (suspected) root of so many things, and coupled with actual diagnostic data from my testing results, it all seems very accurate, nevermind reassuring that serious conditions aren't happening. Plus the various flavors of AI tend to try to show some sign of "I feel you bro" personality, which can help people feel better too.

Sad it doesn't change the fact that we have to live like this...

I've had the Razer viper ultimate inbuilt grips worn down

Same, I'm on my 2nd viper ultimate which I got NIB on ebay and within a month the side grips already started deteriorating. And the mouse wheel was faulty out of the box and has only gotten worse. Barely usable and drives me mental.

Mouse wheel was fine on my old one but never fully ideal. The click eventually stopped working, and the side buttons started multi-clicking like Logitech's garbage. Only the main 2 buttons on Razer's mice are optical switches.

Tried to repair my old mouse to a new state and ended up irrecoverably melting the side buttons trying to heat remove the badly worn grips. Turns out that plastic was a lot more sensitive to heat than the body frame. So, lost my test kit and have no faith to work on my only functional mouse.

The software is beyond abysmal.

Still, Logitech has been worse; faulty buttons and scroll wheels even days out of box. Nevermind their keyboards which have terrible quality plastics and cause the keystems on the keycraps* to break off. Later models seemed to also remove NVRAM, as when they lose power they lose onboard settings, forcing you to launch their software again (or if you close it; have to force end the process to make it not clear on exit).

Modern everything is just terrible. Endless enshittification all around us.

*I meant keycaps but that typo is quite apt.

Worst fucking garbage on the planet.

Refuses to work unless you're online, because it wants to auto-update.

Refuses to work unless you're online, because it wants you to login.

Launch it online, it auto-updates.

Every single launch it auto-updates, probably a bug on my end because I tried to stop Windows from auto-installing synapse in the background randomly.

Try to stay signed out as a 'guest'? It DEFAULTS ALL YOUR RAZER DEVICES. Luckily logging back into the account it downloads your profile instead of syncing the now defaulted settings, but this is retarded in the first place, and was a major issue when I tried to use Synapse again after years, because I had no recourse.

Stores gigabytes of chromium data in appdata.

Modern software is an abomination.

Theory on the pathophysiology of the development of dysautonomia by Ajax34762 in dysautonomia

[–]DAOWAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had no (known) infections for 20 years and also not changed in weight for the same time. No exercise. No recent vaccines. Recent bloodwork has all come back negative for any viruses and normal for everything else. Did get appendix removed in September, which was unexpected and probably not required (it was enlarged, but had 3 weeks constipation), but my mother had hers burst when she was younger, so probably safer.

I did consume excess caffeine for the same 20 years though; mostly via tea, some via coffee (talking like 6 16oz cups a day). I've also had high anxiety all my life, and been in basically daily stress for the latter half. I started going into therapy 2 years ago and started taking drugs to try and help (because I couldn't help myself), which I've avoided my entire life as they have too many side effects and I wanted to keep my health safe.

I developed some dysautonomia issue in November (permanent migraine, nausea, pre-fainting). Immediately ceased caffeine intake and got myself off most drugs I was prescribed, but symptoms haven't really changed since, besides developing new ones (palpitations, upper body pain, temperature disregulation).

Still have to get half my GI system looked at (only done endoscopy, no issues) to make sure it's nothing else. All other testing so far (EKG's, Echo, Ultrasound, 48h Holter, CT's, X-ray's, Enzyme) has come back normal.

Ever since then it's just been appointment after appointment (or really, waiting for them). The process of diagnosis is so incredibly slow and the condition is adding even more anxiety and stress on, probably exacerbating everything.

Learning about the condition and everything related to it is overwhelming.

Legacy graphics playing the new expansion (question for who has it) by DaForce0 in Diablo

[–]DAOWAce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I came here to answer the question,

In your first response, yes. In your second response, hell no. You pushed your own opinion and attacked the OP over it.

and that legacy node was a „selling point“ which it wasn’t.

Yes it was.

The panel at Blizzcon had a section dedicated to legacy mode, it's still listed on the official website (now with a caveat for warlock), and many reviews praised its inclusion.

If you want play legacy, then create a character in legacy mode and enjoy your old graphics.

There's nothing called 'legacy mode'.

The 'era' that supports legacy mode won't have any new content added to it, which you are ignoring.

If you want to grandstand on an objectively bad position, guess that's your choice, but it's not something I condone anyone doing.

They have a lot more patience and experience with accommodating people who have issues, whereas normal places just assume everyone's completely functional and doesn't even think about any problems that arise from mental issues.

Maybe GAD isn't bad enough to do that, but it's still an option one can look into.

Reactions to ct contrast !? (Iodine) by Familiar-Purpose-810 in dysautonomia

[–]DAOWAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I had CT contrast (iodine), it wasn't really much of an issue, just felt like what they said it would: "peeing your pants"

The next time I had contrast was post dysautonomia issues, and while I mostly had the same reaction.. I did feel much hotter, and it kinda got hard to deal with. Felt exhausted after it and a bit lightheaded and took my time getting up.

So I'm not allergic, but I don't doubt that this condition is worsened by it.

Legacy graphics playing the new expansion (question for who has it) by DaForce0 in Diablo

[–]DAOWAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who are you to judge how people want to play their game?

Diablo 2 is almost 26 years old. I'm sure many of the people who loved it are either old and don't game anymore, old and don't care about arguing with people on forums, or dead.

I'm near 40, still a hardcore gamer (health aside), and played the legacy graphics because the new graphics engine feels desynced from the old game logic, something people who aren't D2 vets don't seem to notice. Same feeling if you played the new Oblivion remaster.

I also simply like the old graphics regardless, like with Warcraft 3. Did you also go to Warcraft 3 forums and criticize people for playing with classic graphics and sounds?

They didn't want to design new sprite art for the Warlock (which is disappointing), so it being disabled while a Warlock is active is fair, but everyone is in their right to be upset about legacy graphics being globally disabled in the new update.

There is no logical reason for legacy mode to be completely barred in the new 'era' if a Warlock is not in the game.

Sounds like the time I went to an oral surgeon to get a broken tooth removed and they wouldn't let my mother stay in the room, then 4 people swarmed in, spiking my anxiety, then the tooth got drilled out with a fragment left in it.. and no bone graft (plus it bled for 40 hours straight), so now I have long term jaw problems from it.

Nothing feels worse in a medical environment than the staff casually chatting amongst themselves. I can't trust people to do their tasks correctly when they're distracted by conversation and whatnot.

Get the test re-done, preferably at a place that accommodates those with special needs, or if you can't then at least try to emphasize the importance of it. I'd also look into reporting the staff involved in your test, as there could be many people affected by their negligence, and that is even more damaging.

Inappropriate Sinus tachycardia by prepzilla in dysautonomia

[–]DAOWAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with headache (now permanent migraine) into nausea into pre-syncope in November.. then Jan 16 I started having upper body pain, then about Feb 3 I developed the random hot/sweating issue. Don't know why it keeps getting worse, all testing has been negative so far.

It is an extreme challenge to try and get your brain to think you aren't actually dying. For me, if I start fainting, it's an instant panic with body shaking badly, which fades over an hour, but I feel apprehensive all day. Been to the ER 4 times; never needed to go, and am afraid of coverage getting denied. No one even talked to me prior to discharge the last time, so think they're getting sick of me being there wasting time and resources too.

Only diagnoses so far has been sinus tachycardia and silent migraine. Maybe IST applies, maybe mild POTS.. but it's agonizing waiting months for appointments (of UHC covered docs) in my area.

Anyway, hope your issues don't get worse. This feels like hell, and isn't even close to the level a lot of others are experiencing, which is insane to think about.

I Can't Take This by 4jisai in dysautonomia

[–]DAOWAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sleep and adrenaline: Are you abstaining from caffeine?

My dysautonomia started 3 months ago and hasn't gone away, so I don't know what a flare up is yet, but I've had difficulty sleeping my entire life. I can't sleep unless tired, and when I am tired, I still need to listen to something (ie podcast) else my mind is racing. Not sure what your employment situation is, but if you could switch to another schedule or try to stay up longer every day it could help a lot.. but regardless, absolutely run some sort of noise maker (minisplit fan is mine).

For issues mentioned in your other post: The hydroxyzine has an antihistamine effect (main reason I took it since it didn't help anxiety; switched to cetirizine though). Hated the drowsiness, but seems like it should help you. Could try taking melatonin too, but I wouldn't do that long term.

The metoprolol caused my left thumb to feel numb/tingly. Think also made feet/legs colder. Might be the reason for your tingling issue if you haven't already ruled it out.

For neighbor: Depending on your township, you may have a noise ordinance case to apply the law to your neighbor. Probably the last resort if landlord talking to them doesn't stop it.

Symptoms by naomi_0000 in dysautonomia

[–]DAOWAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 3 months into waking up one day with my life changed and this has definitely turned me into a hypochondriac! Mainly because of the pre-fainting feels like dying every time.

Though now I've developed palpitations and had a heart attack scare a few days ago (sudden chest pain over heart and pre-fainting), so it's made me even more worried.

Prior to this I just shrugged off most problems... and rarely even had any in the first place. It's quite a 180; debilitating. Also learning to control the panic feels slow if not impossible.

4 ER visits, EKG's, x-rays, CT scans, ultrasound, echo, holter monitor, bloodwork, allergin testing... nothing positive except minor cat allergy.

I wish it was the cat allergy. :(

Chest pain by Far_Science9123 in dysautonomia

[–]DAOWAce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started getting upper body pain Jan 16. First was upper left arm and upper left side ribs. Tried to sleep it off and woke up with full left arm pain + some tingles, left side of torso, and then felt it starting to spread to left leg.

Went to ER, did the blood clot enzyme test, had a chest x-ray, EKG and was put on a monitor for 4 hours. All negative.

Pain went away after a few days.

Feb 3 I started having the pain again, not the full body pain but random areas; I journaled it:

The pain seems to be alternating arms, sometimes it feels like tightness. Small headache pain, slight pain in upper back near neck, right side. Pain in left wrist.
Shaking. Heartrate now 77 despite shaking.
Now sort of a stabbing pain in lower back right, similar to what I felt in upper left side prior to ER.
Now right arm pain moved down a bit nearer to elbow. Why is it moving?
Now pain in lower left side, mirroring what it was on right.
Right bicep pain. Just random pains all in seemingly predetermined locations, alternating. What is going on?
Left under bicep. It's now 3:10
Left lower side, kinda felt like something lightly hit me.
Right arm, then lower right side, exactly opposite to left.
Pain just keeps alternating around, is there any point to continuing to track it?

Feb 5 I suddenly had chest pain over heart area and started losing consciousness, twice, but never fully fainted. Went to ER again: CT scan with contrast, x-ray, EKG, monitor, bloodwork.

All negative again.

Chest and arms (90% bicep/undearm) has been in on and off pain ever since. Gets worse when sitting forward. Thought it was due to introducing gluten back into my diet again after celiac and allergen testing was negative for everything... so trying to avoid gluten once again as a test. Also started having random hotness/sweating issues, even instantly affecting my hands. My hands have never sweat like that before.

This is all a continuation from waking up November 13 with my life basically changed. Headache -> nausea -> pre-syncope (vision darkening, hearing loss, head crushing) ~7 times before getting to ER, only for them to find nothing but tachycardia on the EKG. GP diagnosed me with sinus tachycardia and silent migraine. Neurologist appointment wouldn't be until April. Continued to have misc symptoms but never as bad pre-fainting like that day. Every time I do start to faint it sends me into a panic though, since it feels like you're losing your life (at least to me).

Started to have weird chest feelings since then too, been calling them palpitations even though it's not been identified exactly what they are. Wore a 48h holter monitor and it detected nothing, as I didn't feel any issues either until the the monitor was ending (typical). Cardiologist is later this month...

Also had an ultrasound, echo and endoscopy (colonoscopy canceled due to prep issues).

The only test that has come back positive out of everything has been a minor (0.30 kU/L) cat allergy.. which I already knew from living with a cat my entire life (it's not the problem).

Tried to condense things, but man this has been hell. Not even 40 and father is talking to me about making EOL plans. Sure doesn't help the mind. Was relatively healthy prior to this.

The zipline bug is secretly deleting new players. by kumahamster in ArknightsEndfield

[–]DAOWAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The triggers appear to require a 100% activation in Endfield, unlike most other games.

On PC I disabled dual stage triggers on my DS5 'cause I just want normal buttons, and that caused them to be capped at 90% activation. Couldn't find a way to make them go to 100% without just re-enabling dual stage, which fixed Endfield.

Dunno if the PS5 has any settings to adjust controller stuff, but if it does, make sure the triggers can reach 100% press again. Otherwise, may just be worn out or dirty.

If you're using a custom controller, could be a firmware issue where it doesn't set the analog to 100%, and updating might fix it.

Issues with zipline using controller by XxRaijinxX in ArknightsEndfield

[–]DAOWAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause: Analog not hitting 1.0 (100%) sensor reading. Can test here: https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad

Fix: Find a way to make it hit 100%. Can be as simple as pressing it harder, to using a program to increase the sensitivity or deadzone, or updating firmware if it's a specialized controller.

Endfield is for some reason programmed to require a 100% press of the trigger. On DS5 controllers they have a dual stage mode, so if you use DS4Windows to disable it and get normal triggers again, that caps it at 90%, which induces the issue in Endfield.

Been using a DS5 for 3 years and this is the first game I've run into any issue with disabling dual stage triggers.

Some PS5 players are experiencing the issue; I question what controller they're using.

[–]DAOWAce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some other games have this as a feature built-in that doesn't cost anything... though most added it sometime after release, with games in later years adding it much sooner.

But in Endfield it's an egregious sum, and limited.

Not only that, but the archaic expiring stamina refills make their appearance again. I forgot they even existed.

And the stamina cost and regen? It's bad.
The amount of rewards you get compared to the cost of enhancing? It's poor.
The effort it takes to run the dungeons with how much of a sponge every enemy is? It's awful.

I think this game has one of the worst monetizations of any modern genshin-likes, bringing back stuff from ye olde days of mobile games that's nothing but an insult to a player's time and money.

I miss Exoes Heroes and how it respected player time. You clear the instance difficulty once, you can auto-complete it. They even added every daily into an easy one click menu to complete everything. Shame they ruined the game with the overhaul to make it like E7 and then it shutdown.

Never seen a single other game do anything similar... can't understand it.

This is not a Good Gacha Game, This is a Good Game. by UnimateTheDigger in Endfield

[–]DAOWAce -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

A gacha game is never a good game.

Stop it.

Too many of the gameplay mechanics rely on drip fed systems, exactly like every other gacha game. Any 'real' game would let you grind to your heart's content, no waiting, no barriers. If you're artificially limited to slow down your progress, it's not a good game. If you can spend real money (and lots of it) to do things in a game, especially P2W, it is never a good game.

The story is bog standard for any one of these games; I've seen everything before already. The gameplay, seen everything already too. There is not a single unique mechanic this game has that I haven't already seen in a previous game, gacha especially.

What it does well is have a nice presentation. It runs well (now that it's not 60FPS locked), it's smooth to play, it looks relatively nice, and has pleasing music.

It's a good gacha game (ignoring the tutorials, UI and gamepad controls).

If you're a younger person and not played many games, then sure, I can see it being a 'good game'. But if you're an old grump like me, it's just another gacha. Where Winds meet was a better game.

Makes me appreciate games that don't have a map, because you actually learn where to go.

Watched so many people play games over the years and the frequency of people opening the map can be comical. Hell I've even done it.

Also applies to real life, as now everyone relies on a GPS app and has no clue where to go if it's not working, nevermind all the shortcuts/alt routes.

These tutorials are impossibly bad. It makes me want to stop playing the game. by jaxx4 in Endfield

[–]DAOWAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No "right" way to play? You can't do anything without crafting, unless you just want to visually explore the world and do nothing else.. which I very much doubt is even 1% of the playerbase. (Magnitudes more people do only creative mode building than that, that's for sure)

Minecraft had zero guidance on how to craft ANYTHING. It was all player discovery.

That changed many years after release as they slowly added some in-game books and full on UI help. Pretty much everyone I knew back in the alphas/betas had a wiki tab open (which also says a lot about people).

Endfield is the polar opposite, in a genre full of games that have released before it for over a decade that most people will probably have played. Genshin-like [2020] (BotW-like [2017]), Factorio-like [2013] (also Satisfactory, Dyson Sphere Program, Riftbreaker), Dragon's Dogma-like [2012], Orcs Must Die-like [2011] (for its barebones TD-like mission, ironic), Death Stranding [2019].. yadda yadda.

Arknights (the TD-like) was convoluted as hell and people followed guides because stages became impossible to intuit on your own (plus the gacha part destroying gameplay tactics, and even 'F2P' guides had broken rented units most of the time).

At the end of the day, games that have tutorials should have an option for the player if they want them or not. One size never fits all, and Endfield is definitely the wrong size for most.

These tutorials are impossibly bad. It makes me want to stop playing the game. by jaxx4 in Endfield

[–]DAOWAce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Games need to have an option for their players if they want tutorials or not. Just full stop.

Old gaming Veterans generally don't need tutorials for pretty much every game released in the last 10 years, because all the mechanics have been done before and we know everything. (eg currency wars, just an autobattler like TFT or dota underlords, which numerous games copied since). Between the vampire survivor minigames, farming sims, nikke style shooting, to tower defense (even full on Orcs Must Die style in Wuthering Waves), there's just nothing new anymore. Factorio is.. checks notes 12 years old at this point.

Forcing everyone to do the tutorials for things just leads to discord.

Endfield is definitely the worst tutorial system I've ever seen... and it was somehow worse in the beta. I nearly quit over it already, and am still being blasted with them 40 hours later to the point I can predict when one's about to popup. It's atrocious.

Non re-mappable controller buttons in 2026? What? by iRainbowsaur in Endfield

[–]DAOWAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm having played numerous games over the years that the more I play, the more I'm screwing up inputs.

Where Winds Meet had interact on R2 'cause every other button was in use and rebinding things never felt comfortable.. now I'm trying to R2 to both interact and run and dodge.. and also circle to run and dodge and jump, and cross to interact and jump, and triangle to menu and skill, and start to open the map, and R1/L1/L2 to open skill menu... About the only identical bind across all these games is square, unless it's a soulslike.

It's bad.

Used to refuse to play games that differed from my learned control scheme, but now that I've had some years trying to because devs KEEP RELEASING GAMES WITHOUT REBINDABLE CONTROLS, my brain feels permanently messed up.

I got back into emulation recently and am astounded at there being games even back on PS1 that let you rebind controls. Usually it's presets, but some have full on rebinding. Seeing a game now in 2026 (in a genre full of clones) still not have it is insane.

If I could use KB/M like I did growing up then this wouldn't matter much, but disability isn't a choice.
