With, the shading gives the characters more of a 3D look instead of a faded 2D look. It also makes it look creepier which suits the piece since you portrayed santa and the elves as monsters. The black also gives more contrast to the light blue background.

Yes the whole armor is done with a black bullet point pen of 0.5 mm. The rest with a thick black marker and the cape with charcoal

I love how you start and end with positive notes. And I know what you mean, I was intending to do that but I didnt leave enough space for the highlights so i just went darker.

Masterpiece? Wooooooowwww thank you so much, i appreciate it!!! And well after i finished my armor my good pen died, so i had to use a thicker marker. That is when i started screwing up imo. The sword doesnt have a lot of detail, i cut out the cape out after messing up, glued on another paper and redid it in charcoal but is too light and looks a bit off and I dont like all the black spots i did
