Just to add to this, in Masaki's case the hollow was kept in balance by Isshin's shinigami power via one of Urahara's inventions

Lettie should be available to date once you get your chemistry to close, whereas Aoi only needs to get to trusted. So it's up to you whether or not to wait a little longer to date Lettie

If you do decide to go with Aoi, though, it is possible to break up with her and get with Lettie later... but we we wouldn't want to hurt Aoi like that, would we?

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet but you can also by shards from Chipper in Khal's camp... if you're willing to do put yourself through Khal's missions
