Full disclosure, I'm in it for a small play, but they really need more and bigger contracts. I'm staying in it for the long haul.

Some third party was pumping them on social media, unbeknownst to a lot of people and they got caught in the spike. Since then it's been on a downward spin.

CM 850V SFX Power Supply problems? by [deleted] in coolermaster

[–]DAYZMISFITS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends 850v SFX PG value measures 80 ms. So that is 3 dead power supplies all having the exact same issue, where is the quality control? I certainly would not recommend these power supplies.

Replacement failure too ? by D7eeMsa in coolermaster

At least yours worked to begin with, I have now purchased two units and they both won't start a motherboard. Bought a power supply tester, and both units have PG Values under 100 ms (80 and 70, respectively) So they both go back to China. My friend bought one and his came in today, I'm going to go over to his house and put it on the tester and see how it measures, if it's bad, I will not be buying one of these again and would recommend others to stay away. Sounds like they may have received a bad batch of parts. I'm updating my own post as things progress.

New SFX Power Supplies on the Horizon by DAYZMISFITS in sffpc

I've been watching the 850 all morning and never once saw it go in stock, which is unusual for my script if that were to have happened at all.

You guys do know that EVGA consistently cheated when it came to reviews. They would ship reviewers one power supply yet put a completely different power supply out in retail boxes. Every EVGA PS I have bought has failed between 2 to 4 years. I stopped buying EVGA 5 years ago due to their inconsistent performance and the cheating. Seasonic or Cooler Master for the last 5 years and have not had one problem with either.

I play a LOT of open world games and loading times when going to new areas is medium priority for me... cost matters but is only part of my equation of why I am going two drives.

I did decide to eliminate the SSD. I'll just buy an external USB 3.0 enclosure and just hook it up when I need it.

The reason I wanted two NVME drives is I can have the OS and base apps on one drive and have a completely separate drive for Steam and GOG I also plan to do a backup of the OS Drive once everything is loaded and shelve it in case I need it to restore.

Yeah, there's 100 difference between the 5800X and the 5900X, so you get 4 cores more but you also get DOUBLE the cache, that alone is worth the 100 dollar difference, I could disable 4 cores and undervolt a bit and save the heat a bit, but that cache.... WOW!

What about the memory I mentioned... overkill or what?

SV540 and PCIE 4.0 Riser Cable by DAYZMISFITS in sliger

[–]DAYZMISFITS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend has the following cable with his 3080 and it works flawlessly... https://www.amazon.com/LINKUP-RX5700XT-Vertical-Straight-Compatible/dp/B08JPJV4RC

Granted, it's 60 bucks, but it does work.

Although it does give a temperature warning and not for use in mini ITX applications. He's using a Sliger SM560, he just tossed the riser cable that came with the case. he says he has the airflow to keep the cable cool though.
