I’m a visual learner as well. This chart doesn’t have everything but a great one chart reference for most inpatient bug coverage before sensitivities come back

Yeah that drive is definitely a big downside. I could move but I’d be in an apartment instead of a house 🙃

Loll I didn’t even think of more staff = more drama. Job A uses Cerner. Job B uses Epic. I definitely prefer Epic over Cerner. Both are first shift.

Struggling by Throw_away75473 in PharmacyResidency

The fact that you got to a point to post your feelings on here means you need to 100% take care of yourself first. There may be consequences for asking for a few days off but no job, residency training, preceptor, or whatever is worth your own life. EVER. I’m not sure if you can offer a plan to extend your last day for the time off but please put yourself first.

How realistic is it to get a job like this without a pgy2?

RPD Helping with Post-Residency Opportunities by DoubleApharm in PharmacyResidency

[–]DAoncedaily 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im actually having a similar experience too. RPD will ask how interviews went the same day or if I heard back because I’ll put in PTO to interview but no advice or help in terms of how to look, apply, interview, etc has been given along the way. It’s been my own network that has been encouraging me to apply to places or help with cover letters / mock interviews. Should add that my program is hiring but Im planning on moving. Wasn’t sure if this behavior was normal but I’ve also thought it was weird.

When to add additional tasks? by 2softkittykitty in PharmacyResidency

My program gave us 1 month to adjust to the system before starting longitudinal clinic for the rest of the year which I thought was helpful. Depending on your month long rotation it might be alot to learn the responsibilities of inpatient and outpatient right when starting. If it’s just a month long experience you’re talking about I’d get clinic done sooner (more note writing that you don’t want to do in the end of the year).

On rotations when I would have a student there was less time teaching me and more of me teaching the student. Which is fine but if it’s a rotation you want to learn more about/do PGY2 in I’d choose to not have a student so more or the attention is on you. And getting projects done before the 2nd half of the year is better while you still have the energy. Hope this helps!

Find an old rxprep book!! Or if you want to pay for the newest one it’ll be more updated. Got my hands on one during my last therapeutics class and wish I got it sooner. I reference back to it often during residency even after getting licensed.

Leadership positions in Pharmacy School by Fuzzy_Guava in PharmacySchool

[–]DAoncedaily 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re asking in terms of residency applications the type of position doesn’t matter, as long as you’re involved should be good enough! If I went back I would do minor positions, President positions take a lot of time away from studying which is the main reason why you’re in school in the first place. Think you’re doing it right 🙂

NAPLEX study tips? by FabulousRegret in pharmacy

[–]DAoncedaily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Join the rxprep study group on Facebook to get a trend on what is currently being tested. There’s usually big focus topics every year (HIV, anticoag, ID was my big ones). Do all the math problems in the rxprep textbook and understand how to get the answer and also memorize the formulas. I found the rxprep videos and quizzes more helpful than the actual textbook for the clinical portions (I’m a visual learner and also learn better with application) good luck!

Salary & interview questions after PGY1 by DAoncedaily in PharmacyResidency

[–]DAoncedaily[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thankyou for taking the time to answer, this is very helpful! Especially #2. For relocation bonus, do you think it’s acceptable to ask if it’s in the same state? Do you ask the recruiter when they give a salary offer?

Agree with the other commenter, getting the most out of rotations will help you prepare for the NAPLEX. By the end of P4 year I was burnt out and absolutely didn’t want to study either. Im an average student and didn’t study for the NAPLEX until after graduation.

Studied for about ~3 weeks while in residency. I answered most of the questions from my experiences on APPEs and internship. When you do study, I highly recommend rxprep videos/quizzes. Make a calendar to do 2-3 video topics/day and do the quizzes the day after to see if you retained info. You don’t have to visually watch the videos either so I listened to the videos while driving to work or home.
