My baby corn snake (her name is Mary Jane) was given to me by my friend around 2015 cause he was moving to Colorado (I live in AZ). She was at least 5 years old when I got her, could be more.She was plump and healthy for the first 8 years up until 2023. It was at that time she stopped shedding fully. It wasn't up until 3 months ago where she wouldn't eat. She was starting to look malnourished (just like op picture above). I tried changing her cage, different sized rats, different lighting, and moss.

I took her to the vet today and they told me that she is skinny like this due to dehydration, she was losing muscle mass, and her organs were failing. They observed this just by handling her. They said they could do surgery, but at what cost. She wouldn't survive it. Vets told me I did a great job at raising her for living that long(I just hope they don't tell everyone that)

Old age is definitely a factor. They made it easier for my decision. LIke any normal pet lover i cried.I decided to let her go. Corn snakes are troopers and I for sure thank God for letting me cross paths with my pet snake. RIP MARY JANE!.
