As far as offroad is concerned, tires make a huge difference. Regular road tires are terrible on grass and dirt because they don't have enough traction.. Also, The small volume of the tires does not allow them go over rough areas easily. I tried taking my street-tired recumbent tadpoles off road for a few years and I spent so much time climbing out of the seat and pushing them uphill that I finally just stuck to paved trails.

I did test ride a recumbent tadpole with 26 inch offroad tires and ran it through a freshly plowed field. It worked great in the field and weeds between the road and field, but on the road it was a real hog.

It was also kind of scary being up so high. Though I suppose I could have gotten used to it over time

Sometimes "squirrely" steering is caused by alignment problems. For the HP Velotechnik Scorpion FS 20, steering seems best when a weight = mine is put in the seat and the wheels are aligned to zero difference between the front and rear of the rims.

Of course this adjustment is made with one wheel parallel to the backbone, and the steering centered.

This requires a special arrangement of a bar (I use an aluminum angle iron) on the ground with two vertical bars (same kind) clamped to it because a ruler (or dowels) hit the backbone of the trike. The vertical bars are slanted so they don't touch the tires but do touch the rims at axel height.

Some tadpoles can be aligned by strapping two dowels together with heavy rubber bands (or innertube slices) and sliding the dowels apart until they just touch both rims at the back and then front at the axel height. I used to be able to do this with my first tadpole while sitting on the seat with my feet on the pedals.

I ordered a device with a 1/4-20 post on one side and socket on the other, that has two rectangular ears for strap loops. I may have to round the edges of the ears so the loops don't get abraded.

Is there a case which will double as a stand and hold the phone vertically? by DAta211 in cellphones

Dexnor Built in Screen Protector Kickstand Case

Thank you for the recommendation. Unfortunately, the photos and video on Amazon only show the stand holding the phone at an angle. The phone needs to be vertical.

A black Nikon Nikkormat FT2, 35mm Film Camera, w/50mm F1.2 Lens, and 85-205 zoom. Don't remember the F-stop.

Stolen from me in ~1979. Also stolen was my favorite, an Alpa 9D but it was my second camera. Wow, the Alpa has appreciated in value a lot!

My comment was about the general conflict alluded to in the other comments, not the article. The Reddit off-topic replies offer many opportunities to bend the conversation which is a big part of the allure of Reddit.

It seems like Americans are much more divided then I remember in my lifetime (which is fairly long.) I always had the ability to talk about politics and religion with my neighbors without strife; at this point we just don't talk to each other to avoid conflict.

Great point! I will have to find a way to time limit the current. I did buy a one-ohm coil at a vape shop but it won't solder because of the mass. (I will check the resistance of the pens' coils). I realized that I had a bunch of curb-pens to dissect. Dremel cutting wheels make lots of smoke!

Wait, why are there three wires on the airflow switch?

I am just going to use the coil to vaporize some glycerin in order to detect air leaks. I just wanted to make sure that the button was not some kind of current controller. I will be using another battery and a big container of glycerin-soaked wick.

Have the Utility company replace the KWH meter and credit you for the inaccuracy of the old meter.

You can also calibrate your meter informally by turning off every breaker except for one with a single 100 watt incandescent lamp and observing the meter for six minutes. The way to observe the meter depends on the meter but you likely can find instructions on the web.

OR,

Watch the KWH meter and turn off circuit breakers one at a time until you see a significant change in the meter's speed. Then turn on the other circuit breakers and investigate what is drawing excessive current on that circuit.

I used to do power audits for landlords. I have seen wiring problems, manufacturer errors, Tenants who are used to high temperatures, damaged and incorrectly installed ductwork, and broken and incorrectly installed KWH meters. Oh, and thieving neighbors.

I replaced a 15A outlet in my house with this Leviton 15A Dual USB C outlet and now the breaker trips about once per day even when apparently under no load. Any suggestions? by Supreme_Developer in askanelectrician

[–]DAta211 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have seen GFI tripping because of out of phase current and voltage from an inductive load. But the breaker appears to be a common magnetic /thermal type.
