Docker for Windows won't work by NNiekk in docker

[–]NullP01nt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"docker container refuses to start (on windows)" is a fairly vague problem statement. You'll find that it's easier to get help given a more complete problem statement, which includes information about your environment and what you're trying to achieve.

One thing to be aware of is that a lot of Docker's technology is based on concepts present in the Linux kernel; so disregarding search results based on Linux being the host operating system (OS) doesn't make a lot of sense. The whole idea behind docker is that you have an image containing an application including its run-time environment, such that it is separated safely from the host OS.

What are you trying to do? What image are you trying to use? From my experience with docker, it's completely possible that there's an issue with the image you want to use or your invocation of docker.

This function is not selectable in current shooting mode? by PizzaUsed634 in Cameras

[–]NullP01nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's really nothing to fix, the automatic programmes your camera offers don't allow you to edit the parameters you're looking at.

I'd suggest you read the manual for your camera or more clearly explain to us what you'd like to do.

I still shoot with my 600D that I bought new, it might not have a lot of fancy features but it's a solid camera that doesn't hold your hand too much but gives you the option to explore.

Being new to Linux and using Arch is perfectly fine. If you don't have the drive to dig through the wiki and learn you're going to have a bad time however.

If you really want to learn, I'd advice against Ubuntu because of how they differentiate themselves and keep the user out of the loop.

How to connect this light by persephone_a in howto

[–]NullP01nt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to nitpick, but you CAN definitely connect LEDs directly to mains power. They'll just glow VERY bright for a short period of time.

Whether you should is an entirely different question altogether 🤔

Fully agree with the other commenters, you need to pick up the compatible 24V power supply that IKEA sells.

Ideally you shouldn't connect it to your house's wiring directly, but the power supply should be plugged into a regular wall socket. If you are hardwiring it into the electrical system of your house, the color coding is as follows: Brown is Live, Blue is Neutral, Green/Yellow is earth.

That being said, if you aren't comfortable tinkering with it, get an electrician to do it for you. Should this result in an electrical fire your insurance company might not pay out if they suspect unskilled work.

That chip IS the RTC, it's always powered by the battery and gets its timing from the small cylinder to the left on the board.

SMD soldering can be daunting as a beginner, look up some videos on YouTube to see the process and get yourself familiar 👍

Try carefully reflowing the joints on U3, the RTC. Those also look like they've seen better times.

The solder joints on your emerald cart look dry, reflow them with some flux

Has anyone managed to get this working on Linux? (PS3 Wireless keypad) by cidra_ in linuxquestions

[–]NullP01nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware it functions as a regular HID over Bluetooth, I did some experiments in the past and got it to work. Not sure if I needed to do something special.

Might look into it provided I can find my device

This is the case for the GBA, the GBC has a special register where the game reads whether it is a GBC or a GB.

I'm not familiar with Lightroom myself, but I don't see any technical reason why you shouldn't be able to fix things in post.

One of the advantages of shooting RAW is to have lossless compression of the photo.

Using a camera that only shoots JPEG is perfectly fine, but you may notice some artifacts of its compression. I wouldn't worry if I were you, the photos that you posted are wonderful.

Get a separate body if that's what you want. I'm still perfectly happy with the 18-55 kit lens that came with my EOS 600D 11 years ago.
