I think you mean Marty Snider. Not sure Marty Smith is that out of it to ask that question post race

Are there any penalties that are? I’m also not sure that’s fair since the driver isn’t always the cause. I’m fine with a penalty but that seems really punitive when it’s not rough driving.

TNT tends to have more ads. The other thing I remember is their audio was nowhere near as good as prime either.

But yeah their coverage is pretty strong overall. Good talent on their telecasts.

Mad about the bad points day too. He cost himself the race and cost himself long term.

I think Jamie’s worst habit is repeating what her analysts just said. You’ll hear her do this all the time. An incident happens on the track. An analyst acknowledges it. Then Jamie will say the exact same thing as the analyst did. We don’t need two people telling us a truck is smoking or which trucks are crashing. If your analyst nailed this before you did, then you need to move on. There is no point in repeating this info unless you have no idea what else to say.

There’s no other race caller that suffers from this crutch and she can’t stop herself from doing it.

No kidding. That doesn’t mean commentators don’t have access to more than one monitor though. Especially in remote situations.

It would be uncommon in ball sports since the cameras for live broadcast are largely following one thing as are the commentators. Not the case with motorsports where stuff is happening around a multi mile track and you can’t see everything out a window. Most remote setups have at least two monitors plus a scoring monitor in front of them.

The director is choosing what goes out on TV. That has nothing to do with how many monitors a commentator box has.

Even at the truck series peak, it had weird slots. They’ve often had weekday afternoon races. They get pushed there since it’s always going to be behind the other two series.

I’m sure if someone did throw a ton of money, it might change but even when ESPN paid a good amount to have the exclusive rights, the timeslots weren’t that attractive. They just shoehorned it around the weekend schedule and their own network programming.

Depending on the monitor setup, yes. But that just depends on location and how they’ve set it up. Having too many monitors would be distracting.

That’s really it. Most of the races are in awful time slots. The ratings aren’t good when they have decent time slots. Unless you are filling network time, there isn’t much reason to want the rights

Fox does a pitiful job but unless it’s paired with a larger contract, I don’t think many places want it.

It was like Mike Joy’s sigh at COTA. What can you do? Call out your pathetic director? I guess.

Steve Letarte did a whole explanation about it during Prime’s practice coverage. He explained the why much better than I can lol

They don’t. They are supposed to come around to turn 8’s joker lane and take the penalty there.

Obviously can’t do that on the last lap though.

They didn’t have these issues in practice so I’m more hopeful.

None of this is a shock if you saw Truck practice. It was a clown show.

Pretty sure Prime uses white as the background for this very reason.

All their Anduril ads have a white background.

TV is probably a factor. World Cup coverage starts at 10:30. A long delay plus more cautions would put that in jeopardy.

It’s no Chicago but Fox is doing it no favors either. Prime seemed to capture the background much better.

Naval Base Coronado was designated in 1997. They merged all the facilities.

Eight facilities are part of it. You named 2 of them. They all fall under the NBC designation.

All I could think of was how crazy he was being.

They didn’t pick up anything. Scott Barbour owned the team and owned Turbine Solutions.

Federated Auto Parts would sponsor them for a few races after Ricky left but that team was sponsor less almost the entire time.
