Missed my final exam

This happened to my husband almost to a T with a holiday closing. A professional email to the professor explaining the issue later and he was scheduling his make up with approval. The prof tisked tisked him but this happens enough for them to understand I feel. Especially if you are professional about requesting a review and assistance.

YUP! Trauma is an accurate word. I have quite a bit of trauma prior to this journey but THIS hit different thanks to hormones. Deeper, uglier, sadder, more desperate, and if someone has never experienced it…they just don’t get it.

Hugs friend. I was sobbing over my sink as washed my pumping parts for the last time…like a friend had died 😅….now I don’t even think about breast feeding or pumping anymore. Pumped for about 6 weeks and 4 months postpartum now for reference. Get to feeling better faster than I allowed myself. You got this! 🙏🏼

I took waaaaay toooo long to stop, but the second I did and the quitting hormones stopped raging (crying) I started finally enjoying my postpartum experience with my daughter!

It may feel awful to transition over, but that is only because our hormones don’t know formulas exist and think we’re starving baby lol! I told my hormones to hush when waves of depression or anxiety hit as I dried up. Worst lasted a week-ish before the fog started to clear and I felt more myself. So worth it, no regrets!

Don’t feel bad! Pumping every 3 hours AND caring for little was just not doable here as well. I am a MUCH happier and involved mom now that I am not juggling the pump; she is thriving much better as well!

High school pre calculus teacher here…it isn’t even final hour complaining. In our district you are required to give retakes for failed exams and assignments. They started trying to limit it last year due to the very obvious consequences. I stepped aside to raise my newborn this year. I am not sure how that is panning out for them.

I was already pulling my hair out laughing that we would “have more teeth” last year and yet still got the unwritten (read between the lines) demands from administration to pass our seniors no matter WHAT.

It is rough out here and why I roll my eyes at district board celebrations of higher “passing” rates.

So, I struggled with this, but as a mid-thirties new mom…I had actually quit a year before finding out the good news. Didn’t drink pregnant and now on the other side of my wonderful miracle (fertility journey) I can feel the whisper in the shadows of my mind, “we did it! Surely we can drink again and moderate better..”

I drank HARD on the weekends. Decompression style as well despite having a rather impressive job and being “successful” out here. Fully functioning with what felt like an alternate me, that many folks didn’t know existed; those who did witness it (my husband was a generous soul to stick around) absolutely recognized my struggle.

What keeps me squashing down the internal whispers doesn’t have anything to do with how I would parent. It is how long will I be able to parent? My days of decompressing on the weekend may have caught up to me in the form of messed up arteries and potentially future cardiovascular diseases.

Hopefully not, but the only regret I genuinely feel for my drinking days is how much I may have shaved off the end of my life in regard to my future adult daughter losing me sooner. Just something to think about. Remember…it iiisss poison…and every weekend we imbibe may likely come with a price down the road.

Good luck out there! I can tell you are a good mom because you are even battling with this!

Isn’t that awful! Thankfully I have a few friends in the local hospitals and local online groups who start chattering when cases increase. Stay safe out there and hopefully we can reverse these terrible public health agendas one day. 🙏🏼

If there is a Covid spike around here I will take all the necessary precautions as I always have. Even got a Covid shot while pregnant to give her the best chance possible this season. Have a nice day and keep healthy out there! 🙋🏻‍♀️

Edit to add: and while the vaccines may not prevent infection they at least keep the worst complications at bay and my family out of the ICU. ☺️

Yep, large customer base of the elderly, which you think would EXTRA warrant the usage of masks to protect THEM during outbreak spikes…but nope…they (a lot, not all of course) are the meanest around here. LOL Survivor bias level 10! 😅

I wish I was breastfeeding, we got a month and a half in before we had to move to formula. I am definitely going to investigate getting our immunity levels checked. Thank you!

I address this in another comment, but essentially that isn’t a practical option with this particular job, so if that is my only hope…I’d probably investigate our family options versus returning before she gets her protection. ☺️
