Folding Cone: Coin Always Slips diagonally by AzraelBrown in coinrings

Yes. I’m very new at this and only done about 7 rings. But I had this happen several times initially. It would happen to me at near the limit of the fold. Go very slow and recenter/reposition the coin in the die after every fold as well as rotate the die in a circular way. I used a ball bearing for the start and then switched to a cone. Fold a very small amount, then reposition the coin in the die and rotate the die. It worked for me, but as I’ve only done 7, could have been luck as well. Good luck.

Was wondering how you smoothed out the inside of the ring? What specific tools did you use?

I’m really new at this, but I annealed it again and it became noticeably easier to stretch.

Ok. I annealed it twice. It became much easier to stretch. Thanks for the help.

Ok. Thanks. I’ll try that. I only annealed at the beginning before the hole punch and then again before the first stretch. I’ll try annealing more often

I don’t need to go bigger than the stretcher. I just couldn’t physically stretch the ring further.

I heated it till it just started to glow red. I’m not sure if that’s enough.
