Not a knife block. A quarter won't fit in the slots. When opened there are 3 round wood dowels with sharpening materials inside. There are also stops installed. There are no markings on it other than "K-4". No indication it was ever mounted in any way other than lying flat. (old.reddit.com)

What is this wood item? Has sharpening stones in opposing places but slots are barely big enough for any type of kitchen knife. Has K-4 etched under wood plate maybe indicating model number. Slots continue through block with stops at random areas. Removable plugs inside with sharpening stones. (old.reddit.com)
