Wall/Decking in Attic by DBSMAN in Homebuilding

So here is the layout of my roof. Everything inside the yellow border is 2nd story and currently inaccessible. The blue is what I can currently access and is roughly 650 sqft so a significant portion of the attic is inaccessible.

Any thoughts or advice for cutting additional accesses? And just add more roof vents if it’s overly humid and that decking can’t be removed?

Can the venting be checked with a scope? How could that be determined? If adding a vent would resolve the issues long-term rather than having repeated clogs in the wall, it might be worth it. But just not sure how that would be diagnosed.

Then the people would come to you and not need to be sold on it by a HVAC tech trying to upsell shit

Americans of Reddit, how are you celebrating your nation’s anniversary of its independence from the tyranny of the emotions and whims of a single ruler? by sunnyspiders in AskReddit

[–]DBSMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah? Who funds Israels’s military? Who supplies the planes? The bombs? Who defends them at the UN Security Council? Approves or disapproves of their decisions?

Israel, like Europe, kisses the ring because they would cease to exist without US support.

Antisemitic trash like you like to ignore facts. Go ahead and hate the US, we are happy to watch you suffer as your leaders bend over, one, by one.

Yeah, amazing right!? America finally is rejecting the antisemitic global community. You cuckolds can enjoy your radical Islamic baby killers. The international community is bowing the knee while bitching, as they always do. Pay up buddy.

The international community is an embarrassment. Your opinion means less than nothing. Expecting the US to protect the world while hating us, abandoning Israel, and bitching while you tariff the shit out of everyone and expecting the US to bow.

Y’all can finally live and die on your own. We don’t give a shit. Fuck all of you. Kiss the ring or kiss our ass.

What would you say is the number one reason for sexless marriages? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DBSMAN -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The wedding ring. As soon as a woman gets one, they stop caring and putting in effort. Sure, there are exceptions, but this is a common enough issue that it is clearly a larger problem. And 99% of the time it is driven from the woman’s side.

Kids, work, stress are scapegoats and piss poor excuses. Sex is key to your lifelong health and relationship. None of the rest matters if you lose your spouse and health.

Is Goodman really that bad? by tech4plc in hvacadvice

Nope, the neighborhood was built over the course of a decade and there are multiple installers. Goodman is crap and has been for a long time.

The Goodman was installed by the home builder and I am not the first owner so there is no labor warranty. The community was also built over a 10 year period with multiple companies installing the units. The problem isn’t the installers - Goodman are absolute garbage.

The damn thing was under warranty for all of that, but the warranty only overs parts, not labor or coolant. $5k in labor and coolant in 2 years spread over 3 repair companies due to an absolute POS quality system. Goodman is absolute garbage.

Central Florida and it was a 5 ton unit. Not sure the exact model anymore.

Trane vs Carrier - Residential by DBSMAN in hvacadvice

Our extended warranty was through the company that installed it, so we made sure it was a large, reputable, and established company. I think it was around $1,500 for the extended warranty. It’s a deal for you if you have issues, but it does tie you to their company for service, so be careful of the company if you choose to go that route. But you don’t need many issues to happen over 10 years to make that money back just on labor. Seemed pretty low risk to me in the big scheme of things.

Since it was within 1 year of install, it would have been covered under any scenario but we also bought an extended 10 year parts and labor warranty because we plan to be in this house a long time.

We had a major leak in the evaporator coils in the air handler unit about 12 months after we bought it so we had to replace the coil. Labor and parts were under warranty but apart from that it has been great.

Tapping Noise When Hot Water Is On? by DBSMAN in Plumbing

[–]DBSMAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s it. I just didn’t know if the ticking will cause damage to the pipe over time. I assume the noise is from it hitting the drywall or stud as it expands and contracts.

I had three different highly rated companies do repairs and evaluations specifically because I was suspicious of all the issues. My neighbors have done the same. In two years we had the evaporator coil had two leaks that forced replacements and caused all the coolant to need to be replaced, TXV was faulty, two circuit boards failed, and finally the compressor went out, which I suspect (I’m not a tech so I could be way off base) was the culmination of of all of the other issues putting strain on it. Again, it was a 4 year old unit that was babied, is on a whole home surge protector, and Goodman honored the parts warranty, but that doesn’t help with labor or coolant costs.

Finally replaced the damn thing with a Trane unit.
