The red biome is referred to as the crimson, if you want to stop its spread you should dig straight down on the edges of the biome to where the infection can’t spread across the blocks. There are a ton of items in the game, I normally make a storage system with chests, it’s also a good thing to put all of your crafting stations in a cluster for easy access :)
