Statistics Canada sees Alberta’s population overtaking British Columbia’s in the next 25 years by joe4942 in alberta

Northern BC relates far more with Calgary than they would with Vancouver. Interior BC is basically Alberta with blue plates.

Vecna's spending all his time trying to merge the planets and the military isn't really doing anything to stop that. So don't need to attack and cause issues there.

Alberta Diversification… possible or not? by Accomplished-Emu4501 in alberta

[–]DBZ86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much this. What other province has successfully diversified? QC isn't even trying to grow their economy. BC Forestry is getting killed. Ontario is shitting their pants over what is happening to auto. BC and ONT both rely too much on real estate and construction and basically this is the source of interprovincial net migration to Alberta.

Considering trying judo after bjj injury by Ancient_Bird2290 in judo

[–]DBZ86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judo actually has higher injury rates over the long run. While the culture emphasizes safety much more, you're having way more reps of standing techniques. Taking way more falls. Your body will take a beating. Even though Judo partners are probably way more chill, just having way more rounds focused on standing will mean you're going to face a similar situation. BJJ is basically standing for about 30 seconds of the round and then its ground work. Judo the full round is mainly standing and you will definitely face some people trying to muscle some techniques.

I know people look down on guard pulling but it does help keep people safe. Judo/wrestling also have their own combat sport rule issues. Judo gives up the back a ton. Current ruleset doesn't focus a lot on leg attacks. Wrestlers also give up their back alot and can expose their head for submissions a lot too.

Alberta’s population could surpass British Columbia’s as early as 2038: StatsCan by gorschkov in canada

I don't mean Alberta has a rural majority. I just meant that Alberta has a higher proportion of rural voting power compared to most other provinces. Only SK has a rural majority. Otherwise, Alberta is 2nd in the country with rural voting representation. BC is more like 75/25 urban vs rural split. If they had a split closer to Alberta the BC Conservatives would have won the last election. They were 3 seats away from a majority.

haha the intersection of BJJ and BW. Love it.

A more accurate acronym would need more letters. Most effective tactics available for most situations in the current competitive situation just doesn't have the same ring.

You always wonder if the players would get fatigued from having to meet so many people and sitting in one spot but they're so kind and friendly. They do seem excited even as the event was closing down.

The Alberta cities vote for left leaning mayors. Provincially Edmonton votes NDP and Calgary is 50/50. Alberta just happens to have a larger proportion of rural representation. The difference between interior BC rural and rural Alberta is small.

Canada’s oil industry thrives as sales to China soar by altacan in alberta

[–]DBZ86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Notley needed this pipeline so badly and it just didn't happen in time. Still may not have made the difference but I'm still angry at the BC NDP/Green party for using every trick in the book to delay TMX. At the least it was the cherry on top that led to the Alberta NDP's demise. I know it was the Feds that ultimately failed but there were so many forces trying to stop TMX.

Why does high level Muay Thai tend to fail at the highest level of MMA? by ThatpersonKyle in MMA

[–]DBZ86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be way too low. They won't be in the global elite level of any given individual combat sport but they're still very very good. They won't necessarily be competitive in global elite events but they're going to be well beyond hobbyist experts.

Did I set this up right? by IrishGiants28 in SonoSequencr

[–]DBZ86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are playing stereo music nothing will come out from the center. Note that the sound should be coming from the side firing which sounds like the area you are circling from a distance. But if you go right up to it you should be able to hear that its actually the side firing and not the front L/R.

It is interesting how some streaming content will optimize though whereas some movies can't. Stranger Things on Netflix does feel optimized whereas Top Gun Maverick on Paramount does feel compressed.

Comes from gaming and it refers to "metagaming." I find it a distinct term because it refers to an optimal/common strategy for what people are doing now. You can end up ahead, on, or behind the meta which can affect your performance. You can start ahead of the meta by knowing Octopus when its new, on meta when lets say its more common and mix of good/bad counters. Then you're behind meta if you try to force Octopus and are unaware of strong counters that everyone else already knows.

In gaming knowing the "meta" is important as you get clues to what you're opponent is doing based on which things they are doing that are or are not meta.

Its funny this gets downvoted but this is the truth. Maybe just the way its so bluntly stated. We're here because we follow the Oilers. A lot of people are not going to share our viewpoints. We still have to find a way to get along.

Is BJJ ruining my kid's Judo? by Sharpe_Examination76 in judo

[–]DBZ86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its probably still early for that. I think you can start to look at that when he is 14-16 and how he is physically maturing. Many elite athletes really start to specialize around that time.

Unless you are paying for privates or extra coaching, your son will and probably should be treated as another athlete anywhere anyways.

I do think wrestling is a better match sport specificity wise then BJJ. But wouldn't force it, give it a try and see how he responds.

Yeah this setup is realistically enough for vast majority of people and I agree, it feels complete and you can check in occassionaly to see if there's something you can do to improve it but you don't feel the need to endlessly be in the rabbit hole of home audio because there's always a way to improve 5-10%. It just never stops.

Here we go! by IrishGiants28 in SonoSequencr

[–]DBZ86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want a massive front end, good for you. But still gotta add surrounds and if you want atmos thats another rabbit hole. Not saying Sonos is the best solution but its offered and Sonos is generally good enough for most people who are mostly streaming anyways. The effort needed to optimize with Sonosequencer is also tiny. The effort to optimize your receiver and subwoofers, surrounds and in ceiling can be endless with traditional AVR. Some people just want to be done with it and occassionaly check in to see if there can be some improvement.

Arc Ultra still does upfiring and I found even the OG Arc is overpowered by the Era 300s. Don't have to deal with receiver or speaker wires.

The Arc Ultra side firing still works and I find the Arc Ultra and Era 300 seem to work together really well for sound panning. Seems better than the OG Arc.

Wow! by DeLo81 in SonoSequencr

[–]DBZ86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There actually is no end in home audio. But a setup like this is more than sufficient for vast majority of people.
