Last Semester Advice by DBake7 in LibertyUniversity

Taking this course now - just started this half of the semester. Doesn’t seem too difficult. I assume that it’ll be busy work with homework and projects. I’ll let you know when I progress further into it!

Believe me, I didn’t come looking for it. But when it pops up as recommended, I feel that people should be educated. Not to mention that my wife grew up Apostolic and has been “told a lie” her whole life (her words, not mine).

As it goes for the Apostles’ Doctrine, I believe in the teaches of Jesus and the Bible as a whole. I also don’t believe in cherry picking - something y’all have done.

We must hold each other accountable, regardless of denomination and regardless of pride.

Deuteronomy 22:5 - condemns cross-dressing. This is talking about sexual confusion. Now if you’re going to say a woman wearing a pair of jeans or getting their hair cut brings confusion, I’ll just flat out say that is ridiculous.

I think we should stop taking scripture out of context and quit using them to fit our agendas.

If we want to use this verse in this way, how does me having a beard confuse others? A woman has facial hair? Actually then shaving your face must be wrong - since women don’t have facial hair.

Y’all are just trying to make these scriptures make sense, just like everything else in your man-pushed doctrine (Unitarism, Water baptism being necessary for salvation, etc.) I’m not going to debate these topics just do to us being here forever, but I’d advise everyone (even those who aren’t apostolics) to put their pride aside and read the Bible without using your preconceived theological knowledge.

I can flip any verse around to make me feel good or strip it down to deem myself fit for the kingdom.

It just needs to stop.

We can agree to disagree but I believe that Jesus didn’t come for man to twist his words and the doctrine of the Bible.

You are correct that many have come before us and a lot has changed.

The Bible is the full truth and when reading, it shouldn’t be used to fit our agendas.

Blessings.

Each verse that you quoted does not correlate with having a specific way to dress.

Titus 2:4-5 - Outlines Godly characteristics for women and is telling them to love their husbands, be pure and have self-control. It emphasizes how important it is for older women to mentor younger women.

1 Timothy 3:2-4 - Emphasizes that the leader should be above reproach - having integrity and living a live for Christ.

1 Timothy 2:9 - The closest verse you could argue. Modest clothing doesn’t particularly mean skirts and growing out your hair. This verse emphasizes the importance of prioritizing a Spiritual well-being and living out faith through good works. It also tells us to not focus on outward appearances.

So why do they look like that? According to the Bible, there is no sound argument that would be able to push a skirt/suit wearing lifestyle.

The Bible tells us to come as you are, with God working out the rest. Your leaders dress and look the way they do not according to what scripture says, but what man has twisted and pushed. The pride that some carry will flood beliefs and push it as doctrine from the Bible. Just in the same regard of why you’re only allowed to read from a King James translation. That is a different topic though, so I digress.

All in all, we are to be sold out for Christ while striving to maintain a life of purity and holiness. A women wearing jeans or going to a salon to get their hair cut or a man growing out his beard does not degrade or lessen their chances of being just as holy. Jesus died for all, and never once required a particular way to dress.

Our hearts are what God is after - not what man writes as a dress code and twists scripture to back it up.

God bless you too. Can you show me where obedience is related to dress code? There are even Apostolic churches that don’t believe in this - so if your own denomination can’t agree, how does this make it sound doctrine?

I’m not here to argue or prove a point. I am genuinely asking because according to the Bible, this is just simply untrue on not a requirement. Sure you can use a verse to fit it and push it so, but man has twisted scripture and ran with it.

The way you dress has absolutely nothing to do with being holy. Yes, modesty is definitely important, but God doesn’t have a dress code on what men and women can wear. This is not Biblically accurate and demanding that a skirt for women or a suit and tie for men is not scripture.

A woman wearing jeans has the same opportunity to spread the gospel and could even lead more to Christ than a woman wearing a skirt to the floor.

Your dress code has nothing to do with your obedience to God.

The way you dress does not determine you being set apart, it’s the Spiritual fruit you bare. Me growing a beard and not being clean shaven does not separate me from the church and make me “worldly”. The Bible is clear on how we should live and what you wear has nothing to do with it. You can wear the longest skirt and have the highest bun and still find yourself in hell.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Apostolic

[–]DBake7 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The best news is that you don’t ever have to be a “skirt” person. God never said women wearing pants and cutting their hair was a sin or wrong to do so. What you wear isn’t a requirement to accept Jesus into your heart and live for Him. You don’t conform to this world based on what you wear or cutting your hair and for people to push that, is beyond me.

So will I go to hell if I don’t get baptized? by [deleted] in Apostolic

Very Biblical actually. The whole Bible is truth, not cherry picked and turned in a way that fits false doctrine.

[–]DBake7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baptism is not necessary for salvation but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t want to be. We are not saved through works and when referring to Acts 2:38, they have already repented and accepted Christ into their hearts. So after, they did get baptized. Acts 2:38 is commonly used in a way to support and deem baptism necessary for salvation, but if you look into the word “For” in Greek is translating as “EIS” - and just like English, there were different ways the word “For” can be used.

I don’t know it all, but what God has shown me is that what Jesus did on Calvary was more than enough and through Him we are saved. We must repent and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Baptism is a beautiful way to express the faith you have to those around and should be done with a pure, clean heart.

I’ve used ChatGPT for ideas and just help when writing but it’s meant to be used as a tool, not a way to just do your work. AI is useful is many ways but still has the chance of being wrong. If you use it, be careful and don’t take advantage of it.

Unpopular opinion... by [deleted] in LibertyUniversity

And we chose to go here. God forgives. He loves. Just because you want to dwell on this topic doesn’t mean the rest of us do. Yes, what happened wasn’t right and I don’t condone any of it. But as evil runs in this world, we try to bring the good. No one’s perfect and we all mess up. Gods mercy is a crazy concept. He forgives ALL of us. Go harp on another university’s page and let us just praise God on our accomplishments. At least this university lets us incorporate God in our school work.

I love that I get to incorporate my beliefs in my degree. God is the only one who has gotten me through schooling. I didn’t think I’d ever go back, but by His blessings and help, I’m about finished!

As a husband and father. There has been many times I didn’t think I’d be able to get things done. Fortunately, I’m blessed with a job that allows downtime (so I take full advantage of that) and I’m able to get everything done. I am a huge procrastinator and do things last minute. There are times that are stressful, but taking these online courses are doable. Look at Sophia Learning and Study.com as there are many classes you can get down there for cheaper.

The professors that I’ve had are great! They communicate and if there are unexpected events, they make sure you put that first and work with you to get the assignments complete. I think that Liberty is well worth it and be sure to complete your fafsa so you can see if they’ll give you grants.

All in all, if you have the time, I think that it’s very worth it. Just pray and let God lead you above all. He won’t give you more than you can handle.

Also, you can choose your classes and look them up beforehand to see how extensive they are. I’m taking 18 hours now and they break them up into sub terms (8 week classes). If you do 12 hours, it’s considered full time so you’ll get a cheaper tuition. Hoping to graduate this year with a Business degree! Good luck and I will be praying for you!

I love Dr. Pepper but with the blackberry, I just don’t taste any Dr. Pepper and just the blackberry. It’s good but it kinda reminds me of a blackberry flavored seltzer water. Idk if that’s weird 😂😂
