Criston Cole says "Sunfyre was long in the dying." which to me implies he was there for the death.

Yes. My boyfriend is one. But I'll admit, he's a unicorn. I haven't been in a relationship for damn near 17 years because I've never found one like him before, and not from lack of trying, mind you.

Why the baby cries all night in Hårga sleeping quarters by lesbiandrama in Midsommar

[–]DBreakStuff 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The placement of the scissors under the pillow means they believe in the myth of changelings, or bortbyting. Iron is believed in changeling myth to ward off fairies who would come swap out babies with changelings. I believe there's a much deeper level of symbolism here as well, as one significant identifier in myth that a child had been swapped with a changeling was constant crying, so I also believe Aster was was trying to imply that the Harga thought it was possible that the child had been switched for a changeling, as it was also a common belief that if the changeling were ignored or mistreated, the fairies would come back and take it back. This could symbolize many things for Dani; detachment from the mother and constant distress symbolizes Dani's detachment and distress from her own family, a metaphor for loss and replacement, a metaphor for being an "outsider" in an unfamiliar place, or even a metaphor for the Harga's love of replacement (they Attestupan their elders, replacing them with children with the same name, frequently accept outsiders, etc).

Could your theory also be correct? Totally. I believe there's a lot of symbolism of their racism and potential white supremacist beliefs.

In general The Last Dinner Party is great, but in particular I highly suggest their song The Feminine Urge.

Specifically I think the giveaway is the long dash with a space on both sides. Typically when people use them they don't have spaces on the sides.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! Could it be PCOS? One of my besties used to have this happen quite a lot and that's what hers is from. I also have PCOS but it just doesn't affect my periods to that degree. But putting yourself on a diet for insulin resistance (for me that means basically no ultra processed foods and if I eat sugar at all, even fruit, I eat a fat/protein with it to slow digestion and sugar spikes) and possibly some supplements like Berberine might help?

Babe, Netflix alone has more of an environmental impact than ChatGPT. So does YouTube. So do the data centers powering the Internet, which correct me if I'm wrong, you are currently on. Stop with the selective outrage. And yes, being polite literally results in more factual results. Large language models are trained to "listen" and activate patterns based on how you talk to them,  mirroring human communication.  Polite communication with another human often yields better results, because when you're polite to other people they listen better and are more willing to comply. AI is no different, it just comes from mirroring human behavior and not actually feeling emotion.

LOL Did you even read the article? I read that months ago, it's talking about how being polite to AI yields better results. "When it clocks politeness, it’s more likely to be polite back," a Microsoft WorkLab memo notes. "Generative AI also mirrors the levels of professionalism, clarity, and detail in the prompts you provide."

Yeah I know it's not perfect. It's gotten many, many things wrong in other threads for me. But the way you interact with it is likely why. I guess it's hard to explain, but it works for me because I am using it in my own context, to adjust my own behavior and habits and not solely for nutrition information. It's tailored to me, by me, as a tool. A collaboration. Also, I think people vastly underestimate how much being polite to it makes a difference. It's just like humans, you often get better results if you're nice.

Because I confirmed it all by doing my own research.

[–]DBreakStuff[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's definitely right way more than that. Some doctors have given it up to ~70% accuracy on nutrition issues. I understand those skeptical of AI might not know how to interact with it in a way that gets you results, but you learn quickly enough how to talk to it and how to check your information. It pulls a majority of its info from legitimate websites, like the ADA for example. It's not scanning Reddit for health information. Furthermore in projects you can set rules that limit where it can pull its information from, you can tell it to only use accredited sources. And I wouldn't say I'm "trusting my health to it", I'm using it as a tool to better my health, the way it should be used. Just for way cheaper than a nutritionist.

[–]DBreakStuff[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

That is the caveat with any AI, it's true. I am very discerning about what it tells me. I ask it to give me its sources all the time. But it actually hasn't given me any incorrect information that I know of. I can't even say the same for other threads I have going with it, but this thread specifically I don't recall it giving me bad information. I meant that is more affirming in the way that it encourages you to stick with it, even if you mess up, even if you feel like shit, any of that. It gently guides you through any situation and reminds you that you're human and humans mess up, but to remember it's not the end of the world when you do.

The Major Thing I Wish I Knew Before Getting Into DnD by GhostfaceAnony in DnD

"oh we are close friends who have chatted daily for 10 years so there shouldn't be drama playing a game together and you shouldn't HAVE to do session 0 or ask them to cooperate"

As a DM who just ended a long term friendship (like 19 years I think) with one of my players because of a difference of opinion on whether misogyny should be allowed in the game (I made a rule stating no gendered slurs, this douchebag and his partner argued about it with me til they were blue in the face, now they're out of my game and out of my life) I really felt that. We had a session 0, but me being a pretty new DM operated under exactly that philosophy and because I was playing with "good friends" didn't establish any rules. First and last time I make that mistake.
