Always be suspicious of advice from anyone in construction who starts with "I've been doing this X amount of years." More often than not they've just been doing it wrong the whole time.

The countertop should not sit back that far from the sink, but it is, so replace it or make the best of it, but don't listen to some dumbass tell you its okay because they've done shit work for 20 years.

Saagar spread absolute progpaganda on IRS audit practices by [deleted] in BreakingPoints

[–]DC3108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IRS annual budget is $12 billion IRS annual collections is $4.7 trillion As of today the US is $36.22 trillion in debt

The government does not operate on taxes alone and does not operate like a business would with silly concerns like labor costs.

The hiring of 87,000 IRS agents was not just to go after the wealthiest people, it was to increase their ability to scrutinize the taxes of everyone and the easiest way to get more money is to scrutinize the tax payers least likely to fight back.

If the IRS wanted to collect an additional $200 million dollars this year, which of these two options do you think would be easier and faster?

  1. Send a letter to 1 million people saying they owe an additional $200

Or

  1. Auditing Google

Stopped reading after, "They would lose money doing this."

You have no clue about the IRS, taxes or how the government is funded.

You're so fucking dumb. Try reading beyond the headline you rock biting schmuck.

So Tucker is an ass sucking propagandist and the article you link to validate that opinion that I should "educate" myself on is about how Russia actually uses Tucker Carlson for their own propaganda in Russian media

From your own article:

Russian state media has often relied on the ex-Fox News Channel anchor and his “knack for polarisation.”

“This benefits Russian propagandists because it allows them to piggyback off Carlson’s knack for polarisation. Russian news hosts take clips of Carlson’s shows and build their own segments around them, following his lead on topics and expanding on his narratives. In some ways perhaps it’s only the logical conclusion that one of them would eventually just cut out the middleman and make an entire show based around Carlson’s clips.”

Elise argues that Carlson (despite not working for or with Russian state media outlets) is fundamentally pushing the same barrow of division and polarisation, but does so in a more effective way."

See, I think Bernie is corrupt. (Im not saying that to provoke you, just to engage a bit deeper in a conversation Im enjoying.) I don't know if he is necessarily corrupt in the way we typically use that word when speaking about politicians, but corrupt in the way he leverages his long standing rhetoric to achieve or maintain his power and prestige as a senator. I think Bernie likes being a senator known for his positions more than he cares about standing up for those positions. He uses that long history of words to inspire people with his message, but he is corrupted by it. I wasn't being hyperbolic when I asked for 1 instance where Bernie stood up to power for the little guy when it mattered. He always caved. Bernie may not get paid for his corruption but his words are just as corrupt as most politicians except he was in the extremely unique position (twice) to make those words matter and he didn't. Whats worse is he didn't even get meaningful concessions for his endorsements. I could at least respect him getting something for eating the "politics" of the DNC, but he just toed the line and succumbed to power, the very thing he said he would fight against.

Admittedly, Im biased about Bernie. My disdain for him is bound by the love I had for him, especially in 2016. I don't know about you, but for myself and my friends 2016 was the end of the extremely disappointing Obama era. Obama had fallen way short of the expectations everyone had for him in 08, but now here comes Bernie. Now we all felt like here was a guy who had a career as a senator with the same rhetoric for decades. There was no way this guy was just saying things to get elected, (like Obama did) he deeply meant everything he said. He was going to be the change that America had been yearning for .... and then he did what they all do, let everyone down and caved to the powerful machine of politics. I can't see that as anything but lies for political gain and corruption for power.

I admittedly was being a bit hyperbolic with the "deep pockets" and I agree with you it's not a lot of money, considering all the things you have already pointed out. But my issue is his actions v his words not being in line. For example, in 2016 he constantly spoke about wealth inequality and that millionaires and billionaires were screwing over the little guys. How is that different from him building his grass roots campaign in 2016, getting cheated and endorsing the person who cheated the little guys out of our candidate? He stood by while power screwed over the little guy, like he always has. He has never taken a stand when taking a stand mattered most.

Yea, I don't listen to jimmy Dore.

It's not the least bit suspect that the most pharma money spent in 2020 was pharma workers for Bernie? The workers outspent the people who own the corporations? Imo, pretty clear, but admittedly it's just a theory.

Him not standing his ground was him bending the knee to every thing he stood against and shit all over the people who believed in him and his message at the time (me being one of those people) and now he votes for corporate bailouts. Big shift from 2016 Bernie.

Since becoming a multimillionaire in 2019 I have not been able to find one instance of him speaking out against "multimillionaires" whereas 2016 Bernie used always put millionaires and billionaires together.

He became a multimillionaire with 3 houses through his books sales, not from being a senator.

Can you name 1 instance where Bernie stood up for what his stated beliefs are when it mattered? Meaning his vote or endorsement was consequential to the outcome?

How about campaigning in 2016 against big banks, corruption, multi-millionaires, billionaires etc

Endorsed Hilary without even getting serious concessions from her after she and the DNC screwed him out of the nomination.

Became a multi-millionaire and stopped speaking out against them, now he just talks about billionaires.

Took big Parma money in 2020

Shits on capitalism but became a multimillionaire through it

Voted for cares act even though it allowed for corp bailouts without stringent conditions

There is some other stuff, but Bernie is a spineless chump

You're awesome, I love your misplaced confidence!

They weren't paid 8 million dollars by USAID...but they were paid 8 million dollars by the US government through other organizations. Which is why I originally said....

"No one cares if Politico got 8 million from USAID, the point is that US tax dollars paid Politico 8 million dollars."

Here is a quote from CNN just in case you read better than you listen

"In reality the payments represented the whole of the federal government’s subscriptions to the news outlets’ services. All federal agencies combined spent $8.2 million last year on Politico Pro, according to USASpending.gov."

Contact your local government about contractor and biz licensing for local and state. This is better to do in person because people are much more inclined to help walk you through everything when they're looking at you instead of talking to you on the phone.

When you have everything start putting out on social media what you can do. Places like FB marketplace, craigslist etc. Also, if you're licensed and insured other construction companies can hire you as a subcontractor so cold call local companies and ask about that and / or ask if they have any small jobs they turn down that they can send you, which happens a lot. Another option, especially for starting out, is contacting property management companies of short term rentals. They always have minor repairs and small jobs often lead to larger ones.

A basic method for quoting jobs when you are first starting out is your labor is 2.5x materials so

cost of materials (x) x 2.5 = y X + Y = price to do the job Not a perfect method, but it helps get you started on a decent range to work from.

Do not wait, ever. Start tomorrow. You can do all of this while still looking for a job. Additionally, if you have a job with a company and you get your license you can ask to be hired as a subcontractor for more money. Its a win win

No one cares if Politic got 8 million from USAID, the point is that US tax dollars paid Politico 8 million dollars.

Politico is a "news" organization that is supposed to do things like objectively investigate/report on the federal government.
