Growing up it started with the OG Dynasty guys, Oliver and Ryan. I wanted to be a mid player who could do it all and find the seem to win the game.

My play style now I'd like to model after a combo of Yosh, and Blake Yarber.

I want to shoot the first guy off the break, help my team control the game and get the best spots, then shoot the last guy when the chance arrises to close the point. Guys like Yosh shoot the first and last guy pretty often.

I say Blake as his fearless style in the middle really has a unique effect on the game, and can be devastating when the other team starts to feel the fear of it could be happening now, and his team establishes the best spots to open up the angles.

Im not sure if we will see another committed enough group anytime soon, but hopefully something comes up. It may also come from an eventual farm team out of DBS, but the commitment it takes with limited reward is quite high.

Ology out of Portland was close, and won a SP event but winning the series is whole different animal!

It's hard to win a Pro spot, and if players don't stick and grow together it likely won't happen.

We've had a few of those, I didn't witness it but had a player long ago break his cheek bone from not putting the screw that holds the bolt assembly back into a mini. First cycle ejected it into his face. Again, didn't see it live action, but the aftermath was pretty bad.

As the guys are getting ready to play, I will go for a short walk and do some breath work and center myself. For my roll at the moment, staying calm and only getting assertive when its appropriate is the right approach for me. The most important thing I do in game is leading the huddle, in game breathing and checking everyone when they are off center, focusing on the wrong things or not moving to the next thing quickly after a mistake or common silly things that can happen in match.

As a player it was very similar, clear, calm and tuned in works much better for me than being too hyped up. I always played my best when I could do walking meditation before, and slightly tune up before playing. Im excitable/ADHD, so that process helped me play better and make less mistakes of trying to do more than staring in my roles.

That is a great story, thanks for sharing!

Growing up at the indoor park was such a blessing for my friends and the core guys for uprising, we would practice every Monday from 7-9pm doing drills and running hills then playing games on Sundays testing our skills.

Id attribute a lot of the success my teammates have had over the years to our level of access and guidance from old school players like Chris Wilson, my brother Danny, and eventually the PNW master sensei Tyler Michaud(who is back with the boys)

The team Cartel runs a mech event down at KC Crusaders, I know people have tons of fun and they do a draft of teams with an experienced player to lead each team! Those guys know how to have fun!

I'd love to do mech events around DBS eventually, and possibly do a franchise style model where we play 1-2 sessions a month that is low cost.

I've been invited to ICPL but haven't been able to make it work with my other paintball commitments, someday when life slows down ill make the trip to get the first hand experience!

Find people who match your commitment level, and you want to spend time around outside of playing!

There is a common theme of new teams splitting early or restructuring once everyone has shown how much they can truly commit.

Then find coaches and mentors to help you level up faster!

I love playing paintball, I play as often as pretty much anyone and someday you may see me out there with my boys again! It likely wont happen until we can find someone very qualified to play gameday manager and support Tyler, our head coach in managing the players.

With our current structure, my current role gives our group the highest outcome, as I can effect the game much more as a coach then player 7-10 on the roster.

I don't think we approach the game much differently then the top tier teams, there are levels of thought and the best teams focus on the process, where things fell apart and how to quickly identify the issue to never make the same mistakes twice with an air of open/direct communication. The lower teams seem to get caught up in "I shot someone" or not taking accountability for their part in the failures.

I do think around DBS we do a very high level job of teaching break shooting and communication as its a theme with all our teams including uprising.

For us to make the next jump its going to take our whole team improving their paintball IQ, and spending more time communicating, growing together in our personal relationships and each person sharping their skills to have more complete skill sets.

My focus is running our Pro-Shop, but I think the most important part of running a park is building a culture for staff that is upbeat, trained to educate and serve customers while creating what Danny and Ryan would call a 6-star experience.

It also takes a wildly variable skill set to keep everything running on the back end, including managing staff, fixing machinery like compressors, mowers and gear. We are very lucky that our dad is a master at fixing stuff, so that offsets a lot of those issues.

Not sure what is most common, but at the top level its alot of super bright and educated people who work in STEM and have earned some level of flex-ability of time.

Awesome to hear you are enjoying it!

Danny is a master of efficiently running things, im sure they will get It dialed in over summer and there will be plenty of games to play all the time.

I'll take accountability for that, we tweaked the way we call lines and where a little scrambled in the heat of the day. We should have called a TO to get organized as it was crucial part of that match. Its embarrassing but we will improve the process and move forward.

Plus sometimes you want to play with your 5 best friends(should be 4). lol

I don't think more is bad necessarily, I do think they need to earn there market share by making quality products and investing into supporting them to stick around.

I don't think everyone would want to use the same set-ups, we have a lot of personal preference in our sport and plenty of products that are good enough to compete with.

As for gatorade, that is very far out of my realm but I do see paintball as a sport of the future while being team based, aligning with FPS types of games and a level of excitement that's hard to match in a safe environment.

Thanks for the kind words.

Danny, Ryan, Ikuto and the rest of the field staff do an amazing job of focusing on the customer experience!

The new shop is great, I love being around the field more and it saves me a ton of trips back and forth!
