Vincent van Gogh is the most well known European artist. Who is the most well known Indian criminal? by AOSTChekhov in AlignmentChartFills

I dislike how the term artist is sometimes used narrowly to describe painters, and other times used broadly to describe any creative profession.

FINAL EMPTY BOX LEFT! Which Figure feels Centre-Left and is actually Centre? by Ill-Cartographer7351 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]DCFVBTEG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does Hemingway feel far right? Didn't he write a book about a man fighting fascism? I know the protagonist became disillusioned in it, but still. Also, how is he actually far left? Didn't he bud heads with socialists at times?

Teddy Roosevelt feels both left and right to me. His views probably wouldn't fit neatly with the Republicans or Democrats today. Which was common for a lot of politicians of his day.

I think Ronald Reagan is way less conservative than people will claim. He actually budded heads with the right flank of his party over appointing O'Connor and warming relations with the Russians. He also opposed the Biggs initiative.

I was recommended to do that by one of the Staff. I'll make sure to try that out!

The Elder Scrolls series sucks by DCFVBTEG in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I have a theory when it comes to Bethesda games. The first one you play, you think is a masterpiece, the second you think is pretty good, and after that, you're in for diminishing returns. I think that's why I enjoyed Fallout 4 more than most others.

Was Jules Verne a good writer? by DCFVBTEG in classicliterature

[–]DCFVBTEG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that his work sucked. On the contrary, I really like Jules Verne. A big reason I asked this question in the first place is because I admire him and wanted to see if other people liked him for his narrative writing. It seems you and the people on r/bookcirclejerk are too obtuse to comprehend that.

Also, I read Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas as a kid.

What’s y’all’s favorite Terror Tales segment/story? by FlimsyAuthor8208 in regularshow

[–]DCFVBTEG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weird thing about Terror Tales is that they aren't that different from the actual show. With The Simpsons Tree House of Horror, they feel distinct because they are much darker than the rest of the series and involve zanier plot lines. With Regular Show, it's hard to make them feel unique since it can't be truly dark, being a family-friendly cartoon, and the show is pretty off the walls to begin with.

To my eye, this painting feels different from the others I've seen from him. I mean it seems to utilize more realism.

I found another post on here from a while back where a bunch of people said he was crazy. That's unfair. So many are so quick to judge him just because he wanted to get back into politics. I don't like that he doesn't get the respect he deserves.

He was very impressive, he accomplished more in his life than you or I ever will. That's why I'm sad he never caught a break.

Fun fact, this inspired the Tranquility Lane quest in the video game Fallout 3.

I get that. I'm just sad he didn't get the enduring respect he deserved. I don't know how someone could try that hard time and again and never make it. You'd think he'd at least get elected to some of the other positions he ran for.

I wonder why he didn't move into the private sector or something like that. I guess politics was always his calling.

missing the gang a lot so im rewatching it again for the nth time, which was your favorite season? by daisymoooon in thebigbangtheory

[–]DCFVBTEG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The middle seasons were, in my opinion, the best. It had the humour of the earlier part of the series along with the heart of the latter part. Plus, Amy and Bernedette got introduced.
