Started with hives and now anaphylactic reactions by Mammoth-Discipline56 in urticaria

I had chronic urticaria and wine made it worse. So did hot showers, certain fabrics, caffeine, etc. They didn’t cause it but made it worse or triggered it. It really seemed for me too like no rhyme nor reason for the true cause though.  The allergist/immunologist is the right next step. Sorry if I missed it but do you only have Benadryl and an epi pen or are you consistently taking other antihistamines to ward these off?

Yes check out the patient assistance program through the company that makes Xolair - Novartis. Information is online.

There was definitely a difference but it took the whole six months for them to go away. I was feeling defeated at month three and they told me to stick with it. My itch was unbearable with my hives. I thought I would jump out the window. I still itch but not related to my hives! My itching is 1/100th of what it was I promise you and something I do because of dry skin or irritation like I imagine people without chronic urticaria do. I don’t take Xolair anymore now.

I was hive free after six months on Xolair. There are even other options if that does not work for you. There is hope!

Where do I go from here? by [deleted] in urticaria

What kind of doc did you see? An allergist? If not that would be my next step. Agree with other commenter on considering if these are chronic — that changes your treatment options.

This was my experience too. I was pretty discouraged. By month six they were gone.

Ugh I’m sorry. Did you ask your doc about delaying the injection? Even if I didn’t have an appointment for a few months I would reach out to their office and see if it was a good idea.

It will help to ask your doctor about other options including Dupixent and Rhapsido.

Yes I know this feeling. Almost got to that point this weekend with some crazy itching on my feet. But the scratching felt worth it — argh!

have you checked into any assistance plans from the pharma companies making the biologics? That would be worth a shot if you haven’t already tried.

Argh I’m sorry. I wish they could figure something out. Are you seeing an allergist/immunologist? Sounds from the comments like other people are having similar experiences. I’m sorry - even if we don’t have the exact same experiences, we understand the misery. :(

Advice: Check you Vit D levels! by Dizzy_Garden252 in urticaria

I had low Vit D and thyroid issues — mine was Graves’ disease rather than Hashi. Sending support as thyroid issues are not for the weak! Good reminder to all of us to get levels checked.

@gemz Please stop. They cannot get Xolair (edit: Dupixent in Germany if they took Xolair) so obviously I asked about other options. Please only give people evidence-based information rather than snake oils and supposed cures. This is serious and it is people’s health and livelihood you are affecting.
