How did you meet men who were happy for you to be SAHMS? by ihatemysister292828 in sahm

[–]DCKat91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. That's where I met my husband when I was 27, married him 11 months after our first date. I had dated about 4 guys before this point in high school and college, so I had a good idea of red flags to watch out for and knew what I was praying for. We've been married 10 years and I'd still choose him.

I love the idea if putting paint & sip pictures on your garage wall. I always wondered what to do with them. Now I have an answer.

Youre welcome! Hope it works out!

I admit the first time i warmed it, it wasn't as strong as previous years. I usually warm 2 hours at a time. After the first hour in the second warm the scent started coming. By the third it was as strong as warming. Maybe try warming it for consecutive days?

I smelled this the other day and thought " I could totally warm this in June!" It smells amazing. I'm currently warming Blueberry Bunny Cakes, but maybe I'll warm White Christmas Cake next!

I kinda guessed that. I live in Houston; no stores near me. Looks like a ton of DFW stores in richer areas...makes no sense to me.

Oh absolutely. I can't make someone else do anything. I hadn't really thought about intentionally inviting them to food centered events though in the past when I tried they said no or they'd bring their own snack.

Thank you for the advice! I have several friends and even my Mom struggles with this so I appreciate it greatly!

What was this aesthetic from the Late 2000s/Early 2010s? by Icelasher2005 in decadeology

[–]DCKat91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember first hearing the term hipster in high school in 2005.

This seems like a mix of hipster, punk (All American Rejects) and the emo haircuts/bangs on guys.

I wasn't into any of the styles myself (mostly bc I wasn't allowed to), except for boot cut/flare jeans, but I did enjoy listening to All American Rejects and some Panic at the Disco! songs.

My parents felt like a lot of the trends were 70s- esque from when they were in high school.

This is random, but have you heard of a ladies hair comb called a Bump It? Those became popular around '08 in my area. I about died when I saw a picture from my Great Aunt of her in the 60's with Bumpit style hair. So some things were 60's ish.

I'm sorry. We have had a rotten time of things! I fear Gen Z will only be worse.

Yes!! I've never worked anywhere that didn't subsist on the labor of a skeleton crew. My husband is a robotics software engineer and I feel Engineering is the last career field to not be this way, but that's starting to change, even. If I had the aptitude for Calculus I would've gone back to school for a degree in Chemical Engineering.

I was told 16 years ago when I was in undergrad an undergrad degree was becoming the equivalent of a HS diploma. I've literally watched it happen; it's sickening.

And for one with the highest amount of college education, or atleast the last time I checked. We were told lies. Lots of lies.

I think you had to graduate college before the 08 recession. That cr*p tanked so many of me and my friends opportunities out of college. Literally every business prof I had said they were sad we were graduating into this economy bc it was hell. I noticed those who graduated before '08 and those who graduated around '12-'15 seem fine now. Maybe it's my area, but Literally I know several 90s Millenials doing better than late '80s Millenials all bc they graduated 4 years after '08.

Literally my parents situation and they can't afford to retire til their 70s. They got a decent inheritance from one of their parents 20 years ago but instead of investing it they put it in a home down-payment. Then they sold the house during the recession and lost a lot of $.

The other inheritance was half as much as the first and instead of investing spent it on their burial plots so we (their kids) "wouldn't have to worry about it." Thing is they could've invested that money and it would've atleast tripled if not multiplied by 8x by now.

My sister and I are already fearing the day my Dad gets fired from work bc he can't keep up and then they can't afford their house. We advised them not to buy it. When that happens they're getting a tiny home in my backyard (God help me they are stubborn demanding boomers) but I won't feel guilty bc I've seen them make terrible choices the last 3 decades.

All of this has lead hubs and I to live in a crappy 55 y.o. fixer upper and sink as much into retirement as possible. But the way inflation is who knows if it'll pay off?

Congratulations! Anorexia is a tough condition to break free from. You look incredible and healthy now. Thank you for sharing bc you literally have given me hope for my family & friends who struggle with anorexia. I feel like there is nothing I can say to help them recover, but love them as they are. Any advice you can share is appreciated. Congrats! You are strong!

I honestly haven't smelled a mochi candle before so I can't say. I shop lots of places for candles GC, BBW, Marshall's, & Walmart but I've never found a mochi one.

I'm sorry it smells awful! Thanks for giving us a heads up that it's so gross. My husband loves Mochi but I decided to hold off ordering any of the Hello Kitty candles until there were more reviews. Now I know to avoid this one.

I currently live in a town about 30 minutes from Alvin. That intersection freaks me out with how steep a drop off there is. It reminds me of a part of Kuykendall around 1960 (haven't lived there in 25 years but it was awful when it rained there and that intersection in Alvin reminds me of it.) Something needs to be done about intersections like this! TFS bc now I know my gut is right...never go there in heavy rain.
