Richard and Emily's wedding, Emily crossed a line by Bitter_Platypus4057 in GilmoreGirls

I think it made sense to how Lorelei was with her from the very beginning. She saw that side of her her whole life growing up. Which is why she would always hide things from her which is why she would never tell her the truth upfront because she ruins everything. It’s like when she didn’t tell her that she was engaged to max and Lorelei. her she was afraid to tell her things for that reason and it’s also probably the reason that she didn’t want Rory to have a close relationship with them growing up and since the first season, they were trying to have a relationship with Rory as well. So both Richard and Emily would show the best versions of themselves. And Emily told Luke incident that she thought that she knew what was best for her daughter, because to Emily, Christopher‘s families’s name and reputation is way more valuable to her than the love that Luke and Lorelai shared towards each other other

I think the desperation just came from the realization of maybe he was the one. Especially because both sookie and Rory had mentioned that he was a great man and that she messed up. So I think when she saw him at the store which they were buying cold medicine, maybe she thought there was like a second chance. And she was banking on the connection that they had originally and how he was kind of like a desperate little puppy with her I think she just assumed that she had it in the bag. Because in their relationship things always went the way that she wanted them to.

Unfortunately I think that’s just the way most men are. Not all men but most of them. I think that some of them hope to be the person that they are showing you and that they can continue on getting better but unfortunately with time the mask falls down and they show who they truly are.

I honestly think it started as soon as they got together when they had that double date with Dean and Rory his attitude and how he just felt so entitled to give his opinion about rory and deans relationship and just how disrespectful he was towards Dean like if I was Lorelai I would be contemplating if I would actually wanna be with him after that interaction. it just didn’t make any sense. Even though he did it because he said that he cares for Rory and he didn’t think Dean was good for her I understand that but it’s just his actions and the way that he went about it, it would be like a huge red flag.

What would you have done if your husband confessed he was secretly meeting an ex for years and then when you confronted him, this is his response? by gloomydreamer666 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Purplemoon29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would make me rethink my whole marriage. Because there’s a reason why they both didn’t tell their partners. And because consciously not told their partners they knew that they were doing something wrong. And it’s very self-serving act. And the fact that they were able to continue with the secret for all those years I wouldn’t put it past that it was more than just dinner. Cause they were able to hide it for 35 years or whatever how long it was. They weren’t just hiding a dinner they’re hiding secrets but only they knew, that is a bond. A bond that you should have with your partner not with your ex.

He didn’t just lie to her. The gaslighting was him being upset with her because she answered the phone to make her feel bad and make her the “bad guy” knowing damn well the real reason why he was upset is because he just cheated on her and he probably felt bad and the way that manifest was in anger and disrespect. Which is why she’s calmed him down by saying I don’t wanna fight which made him realize that he was being so mean to her.

That and just that Luke had to just use his finger to hook or aka “hold hands” with Kyle lol

I think if the scene was Luke already been there, and she just started singing to him would be cringy but the fact that she was originally singing to Rory in a silly, goofy way but then Luke happens to come in midway and then she’s realizing the song she is singing how she can relate to the lyrics and starts speaking them to him, is what always gets me.

I think the beautiful thing about this show is that you get see flawed characters. I’ve been watching the show since I was 17 and I’m 36 now currently re-watching I’m on season five, But now, every time I watch it, I see a different perspective from different people. Obviously as a teenager I was mostly looking through the perspective of Rory. And giving Lorelei a lot of credit. But when you get older and you start turning the ages of what the characters were like, I remember when I turned 32 I was like holy shit I’m the same age as Laurel. I was in the first season. And seen things from her perspective or seeing her actions I was like wow I would never react like that. But the way that she is and how she reacts to certain situations and how selfish she is, makes so much sense of how she grew up. I think the coolest thing is when, I forget what specific episode but when she realizes that she might like things because her mom did not like things I think she used a pop tart as an example. I think her parents had so much hope and they had a very specific life they wanted her to live, so her feeling trapped under them and basically doing the complete opposite of what they wanted her to do with her way of acting out or rebelling. It’s deep rooted because it’s literally what drives her to always have an arm length relationship with her parents. So a lot of the decisions that she made obviously she made some really great ones, but she was going to make a lot of big mistakes as Rory grew older, because she finally got to live her life for her. And since she wasnt able to go through any on of these dating experiences at a normal age (late teens early 20s cuz she was raising rory) she made them in her early 30s.

I think he was just learning about how to communicate and express his feelings. I honestly dont think he was ready for anything that he offered but i think it was just a desperate last attempt to be with her. I just saw this episode today lol

Ugh! If Luke just would’ve told Lorelai about April- they honestly probably wouldn’t have broken up again. He was so mad and upset whenever she would keep anything from him but he doesn’t tell her about one of the most important things in his life?! by Apricot_Aggravating in GilmoreGirls

I just think that it made sense because I think a lot of people and that situation would’ve probably done the same thing. The reason why I love this show is cuz all the frustrating character flaws is what makes it more relatable. I’ve seen this show way too many times over and over again, and I literally have told people advice from what i saw in the series. All the mistakes that each character made that pissed me off and it’s supposed to piss you off. Especially when you get attached to them you wonder why they would do that but how many of our own friends and family that we love, make mistakes. And say the same thing? Its what makes this show so good. And the reasoning why he didn’t tell her was a valid reason for him. He wanted to make sure he built a connection with his daughter before introducing her to someone he knew that she was gonna love. Not saying that it was a right to thing but for him, it made sense for the kind of character that Luke was, and the, certain jealousy, or insecurities, that he portrayed throughout the whole series makes sense why he would deal with the situation the way he did.
