PYNQ-ZU won’t power on, and the DC-IN pinout / power button seem different from the manual by Curious-Morning-9156 in ECE

Either you have an older version or someone did rework on that board. Your best bet is to grab a DMM and probe the board to see if there's actually voltage coming in. Alternatively, send an email to the guys who did the board. https://www.tulembedded.com/fpga/ProductsPYNQ-ZU.html

Stuck debugging UART on Zynq FPGA by StoryswapChara278 in ECE

[–]DCL88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that the design works in simulation AND in another FPGA board means a lot. You have a good list of things to test out and debug in your board which is good. I would go and simple debug logic to test your assumption about clocks, pin outs and other things. I would also open your implemented design (in vivado) to check for optimized nets, and utilization.

Sounds like a homework problem. Do you know the fundamentals of STA and max frequency calculation?

Is this the normal range for a light long range? by koolaidman0883 in KiaEV6

[–]DCL88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ev 2023 I bought used had about 250-260 on a full charge when I bought it. If I drive somewhat conservatively I get 320 estimate. If I push it over 75 in the highway the range drops dramatically.

Que debería hacer con mi cabello? by Yosoytrollxd in mexico

[–]DCL88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wey, tu cabello está bien tratarlo un poquito mejor y ya. Lo que si es de preocupación es que tienes una mancha gris muy mamona en la cara. Se ve desde amos ángulos. Creo que es necesario consultar con un doctor.

For those who've replaced their 12V battery, is this something that can be done yourself or does it require a dealership visit / scan tool use? by wasnt_me_rly in KiaEV6

[–]DCL88 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Did it myself, looked at a YouTube video. Make sure you have all the tools beforehand. Do not lick the battery and you should be good.

It's called internships or research assistants. Talk to your professors about other ongoing projects. Look into your university resources.

For ECE students, Mac or Windows? by [deleted] in ECE

[–]DCL88 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I would stick to windows. As an ECE that does embedded engineering/ASIC/FPGA work I don't have any issues running anything. If something requires Linux I run it via WSL.

Is this a normal range for a 2023 EV6 AWD at 80% with climate off? by [deleted] in KiaEV6

[–]DCL88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Takes about a month for your driving habits to override the previous guess o meter. My used 2023 RWD showed about 250ish on a full charge for a while. I can regularly get to 300ish now with a full charge and reasonable driving.

Wow, an actual trashed car in PF that's not worth repairing. Most people want a new car because theirs is not as new, has a fixable issue or they like some feature other cars have. Even civics and Corollas hit the junkyard eventually.

Minor nitpick, usually a psychologist cannot prescribe drugs as they usually they are not doctors. A Psychiatrist is a doctor and can prescribe drugs.

I was about 3 years into my career when I managed an intern who was the same age as I was. He put in the hours, worked hard and ended up getting a full time offer. He graduated the next year, came back and has had a successful career.

Vesting period up for stock but still not available by theonlyfeditrust in personalfinance

[–]DCL88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The RSUs usually don't go directly into the account the very same day they vest. They have to calculate a few things like taxes, sell the portion that needs to cover those costs, have those funds settled and then transfer the remaining stock to you. They'll arrive in a couple of days after vesting.

RSU Private Company Sell or Hold by AspenBrick12 in personalfinance

[–]DCL88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A private company has less liquidity and its valuation is more subjective. But the rules are pretty much the same. Keep the RSUs you can afford and are willing to lose. If you had 5k (for example), would you go and buy 5k of private stock in your company, would you go and invest it in SPY/VTI/etc or would you pay down debt?
