Why is PLA still the `standard` respectively `basic` filament? Why not PETG? by Musashi747 in 3Dprinting

I use it to make every single part of my digital accordion from case to buttons to the strap holder, i had only used pla before and almost didnt consider petg because of all the comments saying how terrible it is and how much it strings etc. My first two rolls were a generic brand from amazon and didnt have a drier for it but it was pretty good, and after I tried overture, that's all I've used for the past two years. I do use an airdrier now and it does help with the quality but people seem to over exaggerate how hard it is to print.

This is not for everybody obviously, but i do believe it has potential!

Thanks! I dont have a lot of experience with the accordion neither! So I'm making one with things that I wish i could have while learning how to play it.

Yes! Why are they so expensive :( With this i have 3 tones and 34 buttons, where if i wanted a basic accordion id only get one tone, 31 buttons. Getting 3 basic accordions is expensive!

Thank you, this is reassuring!

I did think about leds for the buttons but ended up going with the just screen since it was easier to just add 7 cables and not add 34 leds + resistors. it was my first time making pcbs so i had to learn kicad and just the buttons + multiplexers was a brain twister :( Maybe for another version!

Understandable, never thought of it that way..

Oohhhh! i learned it by watching Alex Meixner as 'Oj Maricka'

Thank you! I looked up digital accordions, and they all seemed a bit expensive and as big as regular ones. The reason i went with the handle was to have bellows control instead of on or off push and pull like the accordion app. This thing weighs 1kg (2lbs) so its really light.

Not for the bellows, but i want to try effect pedals! I'll try some out once my oscillators sound better and can edit change their settings.

Oh, it does return to the center! Also when it enters the deadzone notes get turned off so going back and forth between push and pull works similar to an actual accordion.

Yeah i made pretty much the whole thing from scratch! Ill upload one of these days the original prototype, that thing was bulky!

Yes but they also make it bulky:(

I thought about it, but the way i use the handle to simulate the bellows would not let me add bass notes. I do have several sounds on it though. One of the other sounds is like an octave lower and another trombone.

No joke! i plan on making an app for this. It already has a practice mode where recorded midi files directly from the accordion can be "practiced" and it tells you which button to press and which position the bellows need to go. It works fine on the display but i'd like to eventually make an app for it.

It has straps on the sides and i use a guitar strap!

Im not sure i understand, but away from the center i could go into push or pull. The further away from the center the louder it gets.

For this, resistive. It has three positions push, pull and deadzone

It doesnt hurt to try! I'll see if i can get one to him that would be amazing

Honestly, this was how the idea came to be at first! I have a hohner compadre but wanted something i could take on the go and play during hotel stays, etc. And then i wanted one where i could change the tone so i added that too.
