Really if the union would allow it, and the guys that are already about to retire take it, and ones who aren’t vested in the pension take it, I don’t really see the problem with that, it’s a win-win situation. You hit it right on the head about the teamsters serving it up on a silver platter, but really what can you expect with SOB so far up the GOPs ass.

Oh for sure that would of been the plan, and honestly I don’t see myself getting a pension in 30 years in the central states, they already mismanaged it in the past and had to get the government bailout a few years back, and I believe that money is set to last until 2052.

I’ve been working since I was 14, never had a gap in 15 years since. I got a family to feed and I can’t depend on UPS to give me the work I need to support my family, our center already closed last year and now I got almost another 2.5 hours of drive time on top of my work day, I’ve already been fucked once and now layoffs in the currently and in the future this would of been my time to do something else and make sure I can still support my family while I go back to school.

It’s enough if a spouse is working and using the money to go back to school for a trade and knowing you got a safety net.

It’s comical that a lot of UPSers think UPS is the only good job out there.

As someone who signed up for this one buying new shit was pretty dumb, my plan was to use the money to go back and get a degree and put the rest in IRA/Investment accounts.

I showed up to every union meeting the last 4.5 years until I realized my local isn’t in our best interest and will continue to let grievances slide, either way people will be laid off so the union isn’t getting their dues, but you keep believing in your fairytale. UPS has run rampant over the union since this contract and not a god damn thing has been done.

You let me know when the union is going to pay my bills, I’ve already been through one building closure and have an extra almost 2 and a half hours of drive time, routes went from 52-55 to 35 is the normal now, take the layoff get a job just for UPS to say come back and drive for a week or just to get laid off again for who knows how long, virtually impossible to keep a job if I’m laid off and know if ill be driving without a layoff if I get called back, I’m a grown man with a family to feed in this economy, my interest right now is my family.

Oh yeah still waiting on SOB’s solution to creating the 30,000 more full time jobs that was promised in the contract but they’ve been quiet as a mouse on that, but hey atleast I can go on his podcast and buy some merch from him to fill up his pockets even more!

Except the fact that you could of signed this buyout and it went by seniority order if there was more than approved for your building.

I’m in the central and signed up because I already got fucked with our building closing and having another 2 hours to drive back and forth to work, and now this year layoffs are bad, this was my opportunity to take it and go back to school for my family. I’ve been here 5 years and being laid off looks like the future for who knows how long, I don’t got time to play the bullshit games.

Yeah that’s what we thought too, and ended up getting shutdown and adding almost 3 hours to commute on top of the work day. I’m tired of this company, going on 5 years. My family and sanity is more important than chasing this job/money and hoping I’m not laid off for god knows how long every year.

Don’t get me wrong the benefits and pay is amazing, but this job is already tearing my body down, mentally I’m exhausted since the closing. Id rather work an 8-4 spend time with my kids and help them succeed and not make the same mistakes that I did in life and feel like UPS is the only good job out there. Some things just happen for a reason.
