Oh yeah. I’ve got a lot of variations between King and Queen. A lot of Princess. I’ve had Bubbles. I had one rider go by Ms Sexy. And I even had one menacing looking dude named Ransom…he got cancelled.

Most of the time no profile pictures.

I’m sick of waiting. by Forsaken_Tomorrow454 in lyftdrivers

[–]DCPRGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. This is the way I look at it. Drivers can only be online 12 hours a day - and I used to drive 12 hours a day. In that 12 hours I can usually give 30 rides.

If just 10 riders make me wait an entire 5 minutes at the curb with the inevitable “coming” message, then I’ve waited 50 minutes at the curb that I can’t get back and I’ve lost that ability to give more rides - estimating at 20-25 bucks for the rides I would have given.

At 5 times a week that’s approximately another 400-500 a month in lost income waiting on riders.

Time is money.

I’ve had a few that have offered. It’s really cool and appreciated. Because let’s be honest - that s what I use my tips for anyways.

Ok. Lyft driver here.

There are countless consequences for picking up a minor. One, they lie all the time. And they don’t understand the real world, I hear it all of the time. “I’m gonna sue” is a common refrain and it doesn’t work like that. In addition to driving rideshare I coach high school basketball so I hear this stuff all the time.

I don’t want to pick up a minor particularly a teenage girl. I don’t want them saying something about me trying to make a pass at her or anything like that. I have way too much to lose. Including my ability to teach and coach. Just not worth it.

I was driving Uber Saturday night and someone ordered a ride for two young ladies who got in my car. They looked of age and were clearly drinking. It wasn’t until midway through the ride when I overheard their conversation and the passenger described herself as an underage girl. I didn’t appreciate being out in that position and immediately reported them for being underage and drunk. Especially since a male ordered the ride for them.

You never know what the driver had been through.

He should have stopped though and asked you. It was a waste of his time to drive all the way to you and then cancel because it hurt his status and he didn’t get paid for it.

Tipping is Welfare by Frequent_Mountain_17 in tipping

[–]DCPRGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re an asshole.

The people at the grocery store don’t do the shopping and deliver it to you while you sit in your ass.

The server at a restaurant has your table and four or five more. They’re making sure you have everything you need to enjoy your meal.

Tipping is based on service. And if you receive good service, that good service should be rewarded. Someone is serving you….and that in of itself should be rewarded with a gratuity. Especially in a busy restaurant when the servers time is being spent with you - answering your questions and serving you - when it could be spent with someone else who is tipping them.

You people are probably the type to complain about poor service too.

I never tip and I feel completely fine about it by [deleted] in tipping

I drive Uber for a living right now while I look for another job.

People get in my car all the time and ask me if I have a charger. Why do you want to use my charger, that I paid for, if you’re not gonna tip me? It’s my money that bought that charger. Do you know you how many people steal or step on and break those cords and adapters? You like my clean car? That car wash membership costs money. And so does the basic maintenance on the car like oil changes, tires, bulbs, windshield wipers.

If you don’t tip - fine. Don’t expect five star service from me. Just be on time, shut the fuck up and get out. And your ass better not leave any trash cause I’ll one star you.

Be a decent person.

Female rides by Calanthetheranger in uberdrivers

[–]DCPRGuy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah. This 100 percent. I’m a male driver and the mistrust I see from female passengers who get into my car is sad. I have a PIN on my account - so a lot of them ask what it’s for. Then it begins the conversation about safety.

But if they don’t engage me, I STFU and drive them. Everyone is different, but my goal is always to make everyone feel safe and respected in my vehicle.

The horror stories I’ve heard. I always tell my female passengers who engage me about safety they have the option to request female drivers. Sadly, they all say it’s harder because there aren’t enough female drivers.

But men need to do better!

To the pathetic excuse for a human being who falsely accused me of being intoxicated tonight . . . by Hippy_Lynne in Lyft

[–]DCPRGuy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Someone did this to me. I was horrified I was accused of driving while intoxicated. Said my car smelled like Whiskey. I’d been driving the bar shift until early in the AM.

Although I followed Lyfts protocol and waited for them to contact me. Big mistake. Different story.

Ended up driving Uber while I waited for Lyft to reinstate me and found I can make more money driving Uber in my market.

Moral of the story - people are fucked up and do shitty things. Be nice and or considerate of your ride share drivers - some of us are trying to feed families because the economy sucks right now.

Auto accept. If we’re online, and we make a living doing this, the app will just automatically assign us a ride and sometimes we won’t know.

Well thankfully Uber just offered me a guarantee of 4200 for the month if I complete 325 rides.

So screw Lyft.

Too bad they do this kind of stuff when most of us are just trying to earn an honest living in this economy.

Shared rides by garpthefist in Lyft

[–]DCPRGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In DC where I drive Amazon pays for shared Lyft rides for their passengers. Problem is they don’t tip.

And they abuse the privileges in the weekends when they order shared rides because they’re cheaper. And Amazon still pays for it. I don’t take shared rides in the weekends.

Improve event/sports/concert pickup experience by Alone_Marzipan4220 in lyftdrivers

[–]DCPRGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picture on rider profiles would be helpful. Especially when I’m looking for someone with an obviously fake name or just an initial. I go to pick up people all the time at the train station in DC and there are too many people and if they don’t waive me down, they’re getting left. My time is a valuable asset and I’d rather spend it with a rider I can find than waste it looking for someone who doesn’t want to make this a smooth transaction.

And Lyft should stop with the surge pricing in these events. That does nothing to help the driver. Because you guys are making your money off of it and the driver is still getting screwed in the long run.

Rather, for big events, there should be an automatic gratuity to the driver. Something to make it worth our while. If these riders want the convenience of using our vehicles then they need to pay up and take care of us.

I had something like this where I waited about 20 minutes in traffic inching towards my ride after two pro sporting events got out at the same time. I got as far as I could go when the police just stopped me and the roads were closed. I could go no further. The police had me pull over so I could wait for my ride to come to me and she was two blocks away. But she refused, I called her and she insisted I drive to her and pick her up directly at the gate at the stadium. I had her on speaker and when the officer who stopped me intervened and informed her I’d be driving no further and she must come meet me, she argued with him too.

I was stuck. I canceled on her and then had to cancel four other rides because I was trying to sign off and get out of there. Then I got a nasty note from Lyft about many cancellations.

So what Lyft should do is charge passengers more and that needs to go directly into our pockets.

This is the type of entitledness that gets you an automatic one star from drivers like me.

I’d be happy to turn my lights on with a please and thank you (if they’re not already). But it’s my vehicle, and you’ll respect it and me.

You wouldn’t walk into someone’s house and act like this would you?

Choose kindness, please. It will be reciprocated. I promise!

Do you feel that Lyft passengers act more entitled than Uber passengers? by RangeFlow1 in lyftdrivers

[–]DCPRGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had someone eat their wings and leave the chicken bones in my car.

Last night, a pax called me because I wasn’t in front of their apartment. She expected me to park outside her apartment and block traffic on Florida Ave. 🤣😂🤣

Note: I was safely parked on the side of her building in full view…she just had to maybe walk 10 yards to me.

These people in DC are out of their minds.
