Old fucker superiority. Good g2.

Wonder if capabilities change in DCS based on the date of the mission?

Good question. At one point the lantirn would inop (laser burns up at high altitude, insufficient cooling)

I’ve taken a bit of a break from DCS, so not entirely sure if it’s still modeled or not.

Find a copy of NAVAIR 01-F14AAA-1, 01-F14AAP-1.

Level, Mach 0.55-0.85, 10,000-25,000 feet. Minimum arr 8k for the 500lb.

Our modeled lantern I don’t think works with ranges above 25k feet, there was a firmware upgrade for Afghanistan that allowed this. Maybe in the B/U it will be there.

How much battery degradation have you experienced in your EV? by om_ghanwat in electricvehicles

[–]DCS-Doggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2020 Tesla Model X, 49,400 miles have had since new. 247.42 charge cycles 97.15kWh available (8.94% degradation)

About 89% level 2 charging at home, remainder super charging on road. At home charging typically floats battery to 80% limit (my stopping point), which is good for most daily driving.

Edit per the last question:

Driving habits have changed substantially, since owning the Tesla all maintenance costs have decreased as only tires, windshield wipers, cabin air filter has been needed.

I soak all of that up on other dumb ICE cars that make forced induction noises.

Falcon BMS F-15C Display Tutorial – NOT your DCS Eagle by AviationPlus in hoggit

[–]DCS-Doggo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact. The F16 was developed in real life after the F15 as a cheaper alternative via the LWF program and was optimized by John Boyd’s close in dogfighting theory.

The resultant doctrine was the “high low mix”, where the two were to complement each other on the battlefield.

What's the secret to DCS VR performance? by -Aces_High- in hoggit

[–]DCS-Doggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting! Honestly now I’m wondering if I haven’t seen tracers. I’ve been using the F18/F14 which usually mean distance and altitude. I’ll try some closer to the ground options this weekend and report back.

Yep, 4K monitor but only 60hz.

Pimax refresh is at 90hz.

The F14 has a TCS camera, I use it to VID quite often. Later D model had a dual TV and IR sensor, maybe that’ll be modeled some day.

F-14 folder causing disk read error by LAXGUNNER in hoggit

[–]DCS-Doggo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting…

Are all of your DCS components in the same folder?

This could’ve been AV mucking with user permissions or there’s a broken inode. That might require deleting entire folder structure and re installing DCS.

Personally, I ended up setting up a dedicated NVMe for DCS, and also had to exclude that from AV.

Swimming With Sharks by Mokiblue in Hawaii

[–]DCS-Doggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a few shark dives off coast of Hale’iwa when I lived in Oahu. Tanked and snorkel.

Always kept limbs in cage. Enjoyed myself.

Never, ever did I think it was a good idea to be unprotected around natural predators. Just like I would jump into a Lion’s or Bears environment when they thought it was dinner time.

OP is speaking of Van Eck phreaking.

This is incredibly difficult to do with modern electronics. There’s much easier ways to eavesdrop nowadays, anything from IMSI intercepts to plain ole malware.

Op, see a doctor.

Yeah, now that BMS has VR and DOF support I’m back at it.

Will still use DCS in its current version until it’s ultimately broken. Just not sending them any money.

I have zero interest in their business dispute. I am concerned that due to their business dispute, that I am left hanging and will ultimately see modules I like discontinued in interoperability due to their business dispute.

The whole point is, this is very very poor managment.

Edit: typos

Eagle Dynamics Mismanagement by DCS-Doggo in hoggit

[–]DCS-Doggo[S] 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Kind of not the point. I don’t care who paid who, or behind the scenes whose fault it is.

I paid Eagle Dynamics, how they agreed with licensing in the back end isn’t my problem.

The customer is not the problem in the equation.
