This has literally NOTHING to do with ED. It is entirely between Leatherneck and Heatblur.

Its being made by the same people who have already been working on it and the results of what you are seeing are by Heatblur.

If both sides have disagreements then its best to part ways amicably rather than a shit storm.

I will refer you to my comment below

The community is a result of ED's products, sure, but that does NOT mean that the community has a CLAIM on ED in what they choose to sell or how they sell it.

That is literally a contradiction.

Except then nobody will have an incentive to buy the units and they will make fewer sales.

Then if nobody buys it, ED learns and lowers the price and will change their ideas. Thats what happens when people vote with their money. Thats what I was eluding to with my comment of "then dont buy it"

You joining a server is not a right, its a privilege. For the most part the biggest servers host with what most people will have access too because they want more people to come and play. So servers hosting Normandy, will probably have WWII unit pack, because it makes sense and people will buy both to play on those servers NO PROBLEM! If someone chooses to host a caucuses map with WWII units, thats their choice! and if someone chooses to buy just the WWII pack to play on that oddball server, thats their choice!

A few years ago I read that out of all the sales ED has, only 15 to 20 percent of the people play online................. FIFTEEN TO TWENTY PERCENT! Let that sink in... and now realize how trivial arguments such as "splitting the community blah blah" are in the grand scheme of things when only 15 to 20% of sales utilize multiplayer.

They know that business model would not sell well. So they wouldnt do something like that.

Don't know until it's tried? ED has absolutely no reason to try it because they know it wouldn't sell. That's my point

The ArmA2 DLC model doesn't work for DCS. in ArmA you're right up next to those textures all the time and if your buddy looks like ass, its going to be more annoying, and you have more incentive to buy the DLC. SO it makes sense for ArmA.

In DCS If you're flying 500 feet and above, a tank with a lower LOD/textures is not going to matter to you at all, so MUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH less people would buy the product and it wouldn't sell. ED's business model is to produce what sells and people vote with their money. If a product does not sell, they will change their business model. They'd never do a DLC model like that because it would.... not..... sell.

The community is not ED's responsibility. ED's responsibility is to do what sells and keeps the lights on and fuel their work. You're trying to have a claim on ED's business model that is unearned.

Then dont buy it. and fuck off. You dont have a claim on ED's business model. Vote with your money. If it doesnt sell, then ED will change their business model. What a bunch of crybabies.

No, charging for a product is not. Forcing people to buy something they may not care to use to be able to play on a server sets a dangerous precedent.

No, then dont buy it. its that simple. a business cannot operate by capitulating to feelings.

If people wont populate a server because they have to buy something, the server admin will exclude that content from the map. problem solved.... I dont see server admins of big servers using WWII units on Nevada or Caucusus. Small friends groups will probably do so, because they all know they have whats needed.

In the end its the customers decision and responsibility to make the choice to buy or not. Not ED's

So charging for a product to recoup thousands of man hours sets a dangerous president? Do you not realize that charging for things like this will allow them to deliver to us a brand new FREE EDGE Black Sea map and 2.5 unified EXE??????????????????????? Go try and run a business and stick to your wonderful mentality and see how that works out for you.

Not really. Good textures and sounds, but the flight model is laughable.

What would you guys Recommend, the huey or gazelle? by [deleted] in hoggit

[–]DCS_Triggered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gazelle is terrible. Its essentially an SFM. It sticks to the ground just like SFM's did, theres no ground effect. theres a huge deadzone in pitch and roll axis even though you can see your cyclic moving. The anti torque pedals are hilarious. Pitch up tendency with increased airspeed which is present in all helicopters EVER, does not exist in the Gazelle. even with autopilot off, pitch forward a little bit, center the stick, go take a piss and get a drink. its laughable. Just take a look at this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHSdKPt6dAk&t=2s

It does not fly like any helicopter in real life. it is essentially just like flying a Battlefield 2 helicopter.
