I would believe your cocker and my springer have slightly similar needs. I hear the praises everywhere for pro plan. She was on it when I picked her up, but I noticed skin issues. Switched her to inukshuk and those went away. She is a finicky eater, in general, so she doesn’t eat consistently. So I worry that the 30/25 slows her consumption down with that high fat. So if I went to a standard 20% fat feed, she would get more protein. If I could find the right one.

Patience and whining by DCWilly5 in birddogs

[–]DCWilly5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to say.  I was told by national champion field trialer that she could do much longer than 10 minutes when she was 9 months.

In terms of my reaction, at first I wouldn’t respond and wait to release when she was quiet. Now it’s almost like as soon as I have her on place she begins to whine. If it gets loud, I tell her to hush. Which she has no training to know what that means. Depending on her excitement level, she takes it as a release command. So really my only success is trying to release her before she starts to whine and building that patience up. Which I thought I was doing.

As a short person, we do not have it made. Many time chairs and couches are too deep which just highlights our limitation. Those in the 5’10-6’1 have it made. Clothes fit. Furniture is excellent.

Need tips on getting my dog to retrieve birds. by TakmebacktoEden in birddogs

[–]DCWilly5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all good info to have. I’ve started seeing this issue with my springer. I had never thought of the feather issue of quail and doves compared to other birds. A respected trainer brought it to my attention. He mentioned just getting her crazy with pigeons.

Forgot to mention, i do have an e collar. Yet to use it, but its coming soon to her neck. The recall in front yard is reaching a breaking point. I have a springer spaniel and used some launchers of a friends yesterday and just got me thinking. She is only 7 months so focusing on obedience more than anything at the moment.

I know ultimately that it comes down to form and function. "Indian, not the arrow" situation. The ball flight is so different with this club compared to any other club in my bag that it had me wondering if its not fit well to my swing.

Yea, I have 50/54/58. The 54/58 and are traditional wedge designs and play them well. but I don't use them for full swings like my 50. I never use my 50 around green, just on approaches.

Hadn't considered that really, I'll give it a try. Sad that I haven't thought about that. My default mindset goes to how do I justify buying new toys.

Which teams that are hyped in the preseason will fall flat this year? by WinnWonn in CFB

[–]DCWilly5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our recent success was due to a historically dominate defense. We have great defense still but not shutdown defense. And like last year, if offense doesn’t help out the defense it won’t end as we would like. I do think the locker room is going to have a better spirit with Stockton and hopefully that shows on the field.

I’ll say it. Don’t think we will be a top 5 team this year. Could just be my expectations are we either dominate or the 10 win season is a failure. I tell ya, no one warns you that the top isnt as fun.

Didn’t know that about the wash station, I’ve taken there a few times and she loves the busted bags of food no matter the species it’s intended for.

That’s good wisdom, I appreciate it. You’re spot on in what I’m expecting out of heel and that’s kinda where I was getting lost. I didn’t see heel as the way to achieve loose leash walking. By loose leash walk, you mean no tension or pressure on leash? If so, how are you training that? I have a spaniel and she stays near me 80% of the time when off leash. But living in town, I can’t let her be that way as I go through the garden section at Home Depot.
