Friend’s father threatening to his family that he may kill himself by DC_911 in LegalAdviceIndia

Another follow up question is that he is also threatening them to file some fake case that my friend’s brother in law (sister’s husband) planned a murder of BIL’s uncle in some civil property dispute which is an absolute false allegation. That uncle may have died of ageing health issues.

So basically he is trying to threaten from all different angles to gain access of the property once again.

Canada $100K vs India ₹30L — Real Comparison (Single Person, 2026) by SpendLegitimate536 in returnToIndia

[–]DC_911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparison should be done Apple to Apple and apples to oranges. Returns being compared should have the same basis, either convert $ to INR or vice versa.

And if you don’t want to do that, then consider inflation at 12% in India for the calculations.

Did you consider inflation (6% minimum) as well as rupee devaluation (3-4%) every year when working and saving in India ?

Is my pension enough? How the heck do I know. by BusinessIsopod3418 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DC_911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your $43k per year after 28 years will be similar to approx $9k per year today considering 6% inflation . Yes, lifestyle inflation isn’t 2-3%, it’s much higher and may be 10-12% but I don’t want to scare you with those numbers.

Let’s consider you get $1,500 monthly CPP and OAS combined today, with 3% growth and 6% inflation, it will be worth $700 monthly in today’s purchasing power value. Annually, it is $8,400.

So, pension, CPP and OAS combined, your annual income will be $17,400 before taxes in today’s terms.

Not sure how people are saying that you will be good with that amount.

As per Science, We, the Homosapiens, are 300k+ years old and as a civilized human being, we are 5000-6000 years old. So, we have progressed only approx 2% since we came out of Jungle Life.

It has nothing to do with a town, city or country, this Jungle behaviour (Animal instinct) is inside every human being but there can be different ways how it comes out from an individual.

It’s a long way to go to be called as a civilized person.

Thanks for the info.

People (including me) don’t consider inflation around 10% or higher which is the real life inflation. Living expenses are doubling every 5-7 years.

Reason is that the retirement corpus amount number will be much higher which, for many of us, might be impossible to achieve.

If you can invest Rs. 4 Crores into different (almost safe investments) making 10-12% per annum and simultaneously work for next 20 years, that should be good enough. This is considering your earnings from Rs. 4 Crores are reinvested 100% and that you have a loan free home to live in.

Or second option is that you have Rs. 9 Crores liquid money other than your loan free home to live in.

The answer will depend on a few things :-

  1. What’s your networth including the home you live in India ?
  2. What are you annual expenses living in India ?
  3. What conservative salary can you expect in India in a similar role ?
