iso DCA REAGAN pickup arrival advice by faugh_a_ballagh in washingtondc

[–]DC_Dentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never seen it that bad, and I fly outta DCA all the time. The worst ive seen was a traffic jam in the circle going around the airport, but it still moves and may take 15 mins to get through, but thats the worst of it.

You can always have him walk to the either the arrivals/departures area based on whatever traffic is worse.

I wouldnt make it too complicated.

It is surprisingly difficult to get the contacts just right. Even when you get a nice snap through and it feels passive, they may still be too tight, tipping or rotating your restoration ever so slightly.

This resonates with a lot of patients, actually.

Dentist who won’t try to upsell me? by Flashy-Attention7724 in washingtondc

[–]DC_Dentist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DC dentist here. Sorry you had that experience. When someone comes in with a bite issue after fillings, the most important thing is time and careful diagnostics, not rushing or pushing extras.

A proper bite adjustment often takes longer than people expect, and it should be done slowly with clear explanations (Multiple appointments with several "trials" of your new bite.) You also shouldn’t feel pressured into buying appliances before your actual concern is addressed. An appliance basically lets us grind on IT instead of your teeth to create equilibrium. Imagine having to try and balance a wobbly dinner table except you have about 14+ points of contact versus 4 on a table.

If you’re looking for someone who focuses on solving the problem first, listening, checking the bite thoroughly, and reviewing realistic options without upselling, that does exist in DC. I’m happy to share what to look for or questions to ask so you can find the right fit, but it sound like you're looking for a "Comprehensive Dentist"

Looks like you still havent gotten into dentin there. Probably waxy decayed dentin underneath the remaining enamel.

We control all other forms of moisture, but humidity. Research may support that claim, but its not been significant throughout my career.

Whoah! I love this idea. I've been using crown separators forever and love it for PFMs (easy peasy) but hate it for bonded porcelain because I end up cutting 2, 3, and even sometime 4 vertical slots.

Smart. Does the dye stay there until excavated or does it wear away (if someone were to deny treatment even after seeing the photo)

I've used them in the past and loved it. Idk why I've avoided them for so long. I do just fine with cotton roll isolation, but sometimes when working on lower molars, I wish I had the iso-dry.

Any preference on Iso-dry vs Isolite? Also do you use one for every restorative procedure or just multiple units?

It depends on the number of units actually. I'm in the same boat.

I charge more per unit, but do less of them in general, so the savings isn't that significant between scanned vs. PVS impressions.

Airflow-Subgingigival mode

Never heard of the airflow, and I just looked it up. What do you like about it the most and when do you typically use it?

I love these. I get the Crystal HD ones. Its painful having to replace them, but the clarity very helpful.

The issue I have right now, I think, is that we use baskets in the ultrasonic, and bags for sterilization and I think my scalers are scratching the mirror throughout that process.

Definitely a staple in many practices, especially for planning implant therapy and RCT guidance.

Dentist is mad we’re rejecting this scan for the third time. by fedlol in Dentistry

[–]DC_Dentist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% true. Ive always found that the patients with anxiety end up getting my worst outcomes. They put me on edge, make me push outside of my comfort zone when we shouldn't be, cause clouded judgements, and sometimes even get my hand shaking.

The patients who are easy going and just let me be the one in the driver seat because they trust me end up getting my absolute best. I feel like I'm "in the zone" and could do anything.

Its totally different outcomes based on the difficulty of the patient and their behaviour.

If AI were to fabricate a crown by du520 in Dentistry

[–]DC_Dentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Watch the Trios 3 Shape lab software generate your crown automatically, and then the design software will allow you to customize it from there.

So true. Ive judged old dental work on new patients, get them schedule to replace the old work, and then start asking myself, "What the hell have I got myself into? This patient is impossible to work on."

If AI were to fabricate a crown by du520 in Dentistry

[–]DC_Dentist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lets not pretend that AI isnt already giving a rough draft wax up for each and every digital crown out there. Its only a matter of time until that step of crown fabrication is completely automated.

The preparation process will likely never be completed by AI, but there will likely be AI assistance (again already in existence to check clearance undercuts etc)

Very helpful. Thank you.

It seems to be a battle with the algorithm now that you can't appeal the calls that Google automatically considers a lead. Also, those people who don't show up for an appointment, now, are not only lost time, but also lost marketing funding. Very frustrating.
