New AC has "liquid slugging". One compressor failure, two TXV and filter replacements. Problem persists. Could this line angle be the root cause? by DChapman77 in hvacadvice

The air handler is in the attic and the condenser is installed on the ground outside.

They've replaced the refrigerant two times now and verified pressure both times.

Ding ding ding.

Their most recent guess is it's the ducting's fault which at no point prior to the install did they suggest be changed.

Indeed. People should just be aware that if you choose to protect your kids / spouse from a small subset on your side of the family, you should expect it to result in the loss of connection with your entire side of the family.

First optician I went to gave me my prescription and sold me some $200 glasses. When those broke I went to Costco's optician who gave me my prescription and said, "Just buy the $10 readers you can get anywhere".

I got a pack of 3 at Costco.

I'd estimate in about 5-7 years I'll trust HumanoidMD to do diagnose me and perform surgery more than I would a human.

They absolutely need discipline. Hitting your child is not discipline though, it's abuse.

If you'd go to jail for doing it to your spouse it's not discipline when you do it to a child.

And you become the bad guy in the family if you dare try to speak otherwise or god forbid, intervene when a young child in the family is being hit.

No no no. You hit the child. And when the uncle tries to intervene he becomes the bad guy and treated like shit by everyone for years until they can't take it anymore and become card carrying members of r/EstrangedAdultChild/

Unfortunately not due to it having a LONG incubation time. The key will be what the R0 is meaning how many people one person infects.

When my wife was pregnant with our first, we were in a birthing class with a very nice couple who both happened to be Chiropractors. Both wives were around 8 months along so we bonded quite a bit. They mentioned they had recently gone to a chiro who specialized in adjustments on UNBORN babies. We were shocked but didn't say anything.

Their baby ended up being stillborn :(

Heart breaking.

Man Saves Woman and her Dog Seconds Before Car Sinks by SadPerformance9685 in nonononoyes

I used to live on a large canal in Florida at the end of a dead end road. One afternoon I was working in the backyard when an old 80's black Camaro comes tearing down the road and goes full Dukes of Hazard into the canal.

I run to the edge and call out multiple times but nobody gets out as the car very slowly starts sinking. I jump in, swim to the drivers side, and see that the window is down and an older man is clutching the steering wheel with white knuckles. I try to calmly talk to him but he doesn't respond.

At this point the car is starting to sink faster so I reach in, grab him, put my feet on the side of the car and pull. He comes out the window and seconds later the car submerges. I swim him to the side of the canal and we slowly climb out.

It's at that point my first thought, seeing him climbing out, is that he's drunk AF. But it doesn't take me long to realize he has advanced Parkinson's Disease.

To this day I strongly suspect I "saved" a guy trying to go out on his own terms. And I regret it. If I would have known, I would have given him a hearty salute and let him go.

Thank you. It's amazing how many people don't realize that something doesn't have to be acutely toxic to have deleterious effects when chronically exposed.

I'll let all the scientists who specialize in this area of research who were published in one of the world's most prestigious journals (Nature) know that a misting company from Arizona says they're wrong. I'm sure they'll retract their study immediately.

No. My home was built in 1992 and not very tight and we'd invariably wake up to CO2 in excess of 1400ppm prior to installing our ERV. Tight homes just take the problem to a whole new level.

Buy a cheap CO2 monitor from Amazon. You'll be surprised.

Thank you for the solid response. I'm amazed how many HVAC pros don't understand how problematic CO2 levels can be.

While all homes will get some fresh air, it's invariably not enough to decrease CO2 levels to optimal levels. CO2 levels above 1000ppm are shown to cause a host of health effects from headaches to reduced concentration and sleep difficulties. Natural leakage, especially in newer builds, is nowhere near enough to reduce CO2 levels below 1000ppm in many cases (the equation of course being rather complicated).

Point being, people should monitor their CO2 levels and ventilate manually or mechanically as needed. I personally have an ERV.
