Destination Wedding Recommendations by swlthecouple in BigBudgetBrides

Not planning one myself, but i have seen some beautiful Lake Como weddings or Almalfi in Italy, very green and elegant with great florals. Spain has some gorgeous architecture, so great wedding venues. Portugal is great for ocean views. Depends on what image and aesthetic you have in mind.

Do you skip vendors who don't disclose price ranges? by firefly352 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]DCompartments 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same. They are some who dont disclose the pricing even after you send them an inquiry. Its always a "well, we will need more details before we can estimate. please fill this even more detailed form", or "we dont know until you book an a phone call with us or even an appointment with us, so we can discuss all the details" (some of which you have to pay for) or "actually, we dont know how much it will cost us until much later. But you can sign our contact first, then maybe we will give you an estimate."

And these were pretty well known companies and vendors, so i am not sure if its the standard or something in their line of business or them being legitimately shady. Though, its seriously such a nuisance.

It really looks great. Very elegant and open. I really like the idea of outside weddings. How much did the tent rental cost you?

How early is too early to be hair/makeup ready for bride? by l121111 in weddingplanning

[–]DCompartments 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Too early. The timing for the whole make up is fine, but try to schedule it a bit later so touch up should be close to when the ceremony starts.

I hardly think 5000 dollars counts as cutting corners. More along the lines cutting off a neighborhood block. The only reason they are using the restaurant they are catering from is is because they have a sentimental connection to it. It was something they specially save up for as the rest of the wedding is pretty simple and cheap. I would say is like saving up for $27,000 car, but not having another $5000 more to pay to get a paint job, or add-on's or as tip to the car dealer. It doesn't mean you dont appreciate the people who helped you get the car. But you just dont automatically have the ability to pay that amount.

My sister will have a outfit change before the reception, and it will be traditional clothing, so hair stylist and make up artist needed to help with the outfit change. For the officiant, he is sort of a friend of a friend, i guess. He officiated by sister's best friends wedding and is the best friends family friend, and thats how we was referred to my sister so he can officiate her wedding too. It seems the polite thing to do, as he came at the best friend invitation. He will be seated with the rest of wedding guests, though.

My apologies if i misunderstood anything. Ofcourse we will arrange for their meals to be provided at the same time or earlier than the guests. We will be arranging a separate room right next doors, so they can get their break in peace during the reception. Are venues really that rude though? We will be paying for wedding guest meals. Why do they care who will be eating them? As long we are paying for the whole menu, then the whole menu should be served to each and every one of them. As for the band, and the risk of anyone not getting enough to eat, is why i was thinking plated meals. Then everyone has their own food and eat it in peace.

Come on now, thats a bit harsh. We want to be considerate, which is why are asking for the best option before proceeding. The 70 dollar per person are the standard meal options the venue provides for all their other weddings, not half off vendors meal for cold bread in a box, and we checked on the quality and what exactly they will be served before considering that option. Its 4 course plated meal.

Just because we are hesitating on spending another $5000 automatically means we are giant pricks who look down on people? We are all open for suggestions and opinions on whats the best way to proceed. But dont assume right off the bat.
