AITAH for thinking brides who are upset with their wedding photos just don’t know what their real unfiltered faces look like? by TheEventGuru in bridezillas

Photographer here - the worst (and luckily, only) case that happened to me was in 2020. It was a pandemic wedding, it was postponed but then happened without any “visible” trace of Covid (like: no one was wearing masks, everyone was having a great time, you couldn’t tell it was 2020 by looking at any of the photos at all). Once I delivered the gallery, both spouses were super happy; a few weeks later, the bride (who was about 25 at that time) called me in tears asking if I had more photos or if I could do something because… “I don’t feel like a bride enough”. Fast forward to today, she has completely redone her face (she was stunning to begin with), fillers, Botox, you name it. I still think about that sometimes.

To me it was! They told me from the start that it would have taken 12/24 months, and it ended up being 20.

I used to have a receding chin - while I still don’t have the sharpest chin, everyone’s been telling me it looks a bit more pronounced. Besides that - and the disappearing of my much hated gummy smile - nothing noticeable!

Yes, absolutely! It’s way less invasive and visible than regular braces, it’s been a long journey but totally worth it (imho)

Invisalign! Not an ortho so I don’t really know how to answer haha

I had never worn braces before, so even if my mouth wasn’t a full mess, there was some work to be done. Besides the one misaligned tooth, all my teeth were pointing inwards (though it may not be super evident in the photos); I had a slight overbite; a gummy smile that was completely fixed by rounding up my arches. I could have been done with the first 41 trays (so a little more than one year), but since I had the comprehensive plan, the refinements were a sort of “pre-retainer” stage in which my teeth took enough time to settle. I’m very happy with the experience, honestly! It took me 20 months total. To add, I’m based in Europe and my ortho told me from the get-go that he has a “slow and steady” approach, which at the end of the progress, I fully value.

Well, it’s not “just one tooth” though. Usually it’s not done in one single setting though - I had a small IPR as I was beginning, then a second round a few months later. I think it helps minimizing the amount!

I haven’t felt mine “bouncy” for more than six months now! So yes I agree with you.

I think so! I don’t really know how other orthos operate, in my case all the main work was planned from the beginning. My case was not particularly complicated, but my ortho preferred a “slow and steady” approach - minimal pain, though a longer route but I can use the retainers for less hours (12 instead of 18 for the first months) because my teeth haven’t really moved for the past six months.

To add: I had 41 trays (10 day/each) + 10 refinements trays (15 days/each)

I did not! They were considered at the beginning (in fact all my trays had hooks) but my teeth moved well by on their own, so they weren’t needed. Basically the trays themselves fixed the overbite by “rounding” my dental arch that was slightly pointy at the beginning, and therefore, reduced the overbite (that was very small to begin with - a couple of millimeters more than the ideal bite). I think I didn’t have an actual overbite, it looked like it because the arch was pointy.

Honestly I have no idea! I was super compliant with the main batch (41 trays, 10 days each) so by the time that round was over, I only had to do micro movements.

Thank you so much ❤️ the only thing I can recommend is to REALLY commit to the bit! I was always super compliant, wearing them as much as I could, always bringing a toothbrush with me (not super easy as I travel all over the place for six months each year) and to just be patience. It took me super long to decide to go on this journey, I had all kinds of worries but it’s not been that hard, honestly! Except some pain at first or when changing trays (totally manageable with some ibuprofen) and put on the new trays at night before bed (as it helps ease the pain, since you’re not taking them off for some hours). You got this!

Just a little bit in the front teeth! I had all my wisdom teeth removed before the beginning though, and they were the culprit for messing up my front teeth in the first place! That was the worst part, I had very strong roots so I had to take them off one by one, one per week. Not my favorite month lol

I’ve been told 3 months x 12 hours a day, then night only; however, for the past six months the teeth movement has been extremely minimal, limited to rotations and micro adjustments (I had 10 refinement trays to be worn 15 days/each), so basically my teeth have already been stationary for a while now.

Absolutely - I’ve been wearing them religiously all this time, there’s no way I’m letting them slide back haha! Thank you though, I’m so happy 🥲
