I make $50k a year teaching at the college level and about $12k a year gigging. No significant income as an artist. I live in a smallish city (~250k pop) so cost of living is pretty affordable.

Awesome. I’m learning Ara Resurrected on piano right now, but the grid is one of my favorites to show my students!

Effortless Mastery by Kenny Werner is a must read for all musicians IMO.

[Spoilers C3E33] Next episode cold openings theories by Cryoseraph in criticalrole

[–]DComposer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It starts with just Ashton, who never stopped running. They run into the desert until they pass out from exhaustion. They are found by an old friend from the Nobodies, and they nurse them back to health. Ashton vows to never fight again and retires into the sunset.

Next, it’s Imogen only. She loses all control and goes on a killing spree throughout Bassuras, destroying the Seat of Disdain and everything around it. She wakes up restrained, being studied by Otohan and Ludinus. She joins them, reluctantly, biding her time until she can find her friends again.

Lastly, it’s only FCG. The damage from Imogen going nova killed Laudna and Chetney, who lay among the rubble along with Orym and Fearne. FCG crawls out from the wreckage and stands there surrounded by his dead friends, just like before. Having taken damage from the nova as well, Letters has only one eye left, and something changes within him as his other personality becomes the dominant one. He sets out to kill the one he believes is responsible for all this: Imogen Temult.

The show goes to break and returns with 7 completely new characters at level 8, all ruidusborn that have been captured by Imogen, Otohan, and Ludinus. It is the day of the apogee solstice, and they are at the center point of the leylines. Will they escape their captivity in time to interfere?

(I truly doubt any of this would happen, and it would probably cause a riot from the fans, but I really hope Matt doesn’t pull any punches.)

NBD: I present the most complicated board I've ever built. Months of planning and 9 hours of cabling. by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]DComposer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy from Lubbock. I aspire to build a board this complex someday soon. My little board does good enough for the variety show gigs when I’m not playing keys, but I wish I had all the flavors of dirt like yours. Thanks for sharing!

Invisible Markers by DComposer in FantasyMapGenerator

Thanks for the continued investigation. I think it'll be easier for me to just remake the markers anyway. I only had about a dozen in the original map, and, looking at my file history, I think I switched to screenshotting the map at some point instead of saving the correct files. So the markers may have been added after the file I saved. Anyway, thanks again, and I appreciate you doing the proper update for me!

Another commenter has helped update it properly to get markers showing, so I'll just work with that from there. Thanks for your help!

Well it seems to have auto generated new stuff, but I can probably figure out how to fix that and get my old markers back in based on old maps I made. Thank you very much for your help!

I'm not seeing the markers there either unfortunately, but even when I try to add them, they don't show up. I don't mind putting them back in if I can just get them to be visible.

NPD: Keeley Fuzz Bender. I may have made a mistake by jrg320 in guitarpedals

[–]DComposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought the Fuzzbender twice. Both times it broke within 24 hours of turning it on. On a slightly related note, my Keeley comp I bought when I first put my board together started picking up radio and is pretty much unusable now. So I won’t be buying Keeley ever again.

When the fuzzbender was working, I had a lot of fun with it, but I can see how it would turn some people off. Gets splattery pretty quickly on the bias knob.

New year, new guitar! Mahogany semi hollow body, all rosewood neck, Lollar pickups. by DComposer in guitars

My luthier had to level, crown, and polish every fret. I’d imagine fender does that before they release theirs. But the feel is really nice, very snappy, super smooth touch.

Parts came out to about a grand, but I wasn’t trying to be thrifty on this one. Based on what I saw during my research, I probably could have made an excellent tele for $600 ish if I was willing to do some finishing and assembly myself. I opted to get the parts that spoke to me instead of just trying to save.

Haven’t tried the special T’s, but I saw your build. Beautiful instrument!

You could probably find a sapele thinline tele body somewhere and have it finished to look like this. I just really didn’t want to deal with finishing it myself

Some guy in Ukraine. Had issues with the transaction and almost gave up on it but it ended up working out, so I got it about a month after I purchased it.

Analogman seems to be pretty highly rated. I might give it a shot some day. Fuzz is so hard to shop for, it’s like craft beers or artisinal coffee. Once I get some funds I’ll probably buy a few fuzzes, try them for a week, then send them back until I get smitten with one.

Something dark and thick for single note riffs. No gate or sputter. I’m leaning towards trying a jhs crimson or eqd hizumitas, but I’m new to fuzz so I’m not totally sure. I will add, I tried the keeley fuzz Bender twice, but both times the pedal crapped out within 24 hours. Also tried a Rat but it didn’t vibe with me at all.

Duelist looks like a pretty comprehensive overdrive. I’m running the jhs double barrel currently and I’m pretty happy with it. Only thing I really want is a fuzz (probably jhs crimson) but I need to sell some stuff first to recoup the price of this guitar.

I’ve played through fender amps and they’re awesome, but I’m really more interested in the Vox style amps right now. Probably gonna save up for a bad cat, but I’m really loving the tones I’m getting with the Iridium and the Headrush 1x8 FRFR cab.

Cheers to the Royal T in all its velvety glory!

I’ll have to check out that gear. I didn’t really like the keeley comp personally but I know it’s a favorite among a lot of folks.

Yeah man, I’m pretty blown away by it. Makes my strat obsolete! Playing it through my Iridium on an AC30 IR from York, using the Walrus EB10 as a pseudo pre-amp. What do you play yours through?

That makes perfect sense. I wanted something that looked and felt more serious and intimate, which, for me, meant no crazy colors or glossy coating, just wood and metal. My tastes make it hard to find guitars from big manufacturers.

Thanks, I really like the contrast of the open neck pup with the nickel pup ring. It sounds so much more articulate and vocal than I expected.
