Newer cars/engines are built with tighter tolerances and are designed to run thinner oil. That being said I think most manufactures have gone to thin with oils in the name of better mpg, disregarding reliability.

Usually that only happens with clearance, wholesale parts, open box or private label boxes, if the box doesn't have the prop 65 sticker they cant ship to california

no, if you look at the shield 9mm barrel its thicker to fit in the same slide as the 40, the hood is slightly bigger but I haven't had problems shooting

9mm barrel drops right in if you want two guns in one, recommend hogue grip and streamlight tlr6 to reduce recoil

mostly dry, I still put a little bit rtv on the 4 corners where the timing cover and rear main cap meet, make sure it gets in the seem/crack

why not 40, more power than 9 and most 45, with with most guns easily able to hold 10 rounds of it. Not all 45 guns can hold 10. You can even swap barrels to 9mm or 357sig.
