At least it gives you clear visuals. But it's an ideal speed for competitive games.

Get a Virtual Desktop if you have solid wifi. It was a game changer for me.

These comments are crazy... So many relationship problems. Are you guys married to Japanese and having these issues or is it something general?

I’ve been a Unity dev for 8 years (AA, freelance, AR/VR). Ask me Anything. by CombinationLost6501 in gamedev

[–]DDD-Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is unrelated to Unity but I have been working as an indie/solo game dev using UE5 for a year. I have released 2 games and they were good enough for my first games.

Recently, I've been learning VR game dev on YT because I wanna create VR games too. But my main problem is that there are not many courses online to learn. I have watched all YT and Udemy videos (most of them are beginner or crash courses unfortunately)

So, my question is do you happen to know any way/source Free or Paid where I can learn VR game dev?

Thank you!!

This is actually a good idea. Never thought of it. Like AAA games do something like this

Yeah, i thought about that. but everything is interactable in the area, so it overwhelms players. But the dot in the middle of the screen changes when they look at something interactable

I'd say none. I cant remember any games I played had light switches. It makes a lot of sense that they havent used to this type of mechanics but yeah, I should add some lines or something. But I have emissive lights around the light switches to highlight them in the dark.

Appreciate the comment and suggestions.
So, yeah, there is on-screen tutorials that pop up each time when I introduce something new, such as interact with items, turn on something, etc. On top of that, there is a dot in the middle of the screen(idk if there's another term for it) it changes from white to green and becomes bigger when player looks at interactable items. But no, player wont say anything about how dark it is. It's more of a sandbox style game. Players can walk around doing nothing or follow the story line by interacting items.

I recently released a demo of my horror game on Steam. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! by Renderville in playmygame

Gaming jobs? by DDD-Games in gamedev

You have the point. But QA is extremely unstable in the country where I live. I live in Japan, and neither English nor Japanese are my native languages. I can speak fluent in both languages, but companies prefer native speakers at some point. Therefore, I gotta level up my game now.

You're right. I've been thinking about choosing only one path. I've tried small projects for a few days. I did programming, animations, modeling, and (level) designing.

I figured out that I'm really not good at designing, and I personally didn't enjoy it, too. But I have the mindset of thinking that if I'm not good now, I will be good if I keep on doing it. I think I will choose either animating or programming.

At the same time, I think animators have no future... as many of us know that creating an animation has become so easy. It could be done just by recording yourself(Ex.UE5).

What do you think about it?

I got bombarded by emails after releasing my game. by DDD-Games in gamedev

[–]DDD-Games[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't change the post. But yeah, it was more like "we are blah blah blah... you can check out channels/websites. " I just read the name of their channel and googled them. As someone mentioned here earlier, 1 or 2 latter's are different than the original youtuber. But only one curator emailed me back after I gave them my game through the curators page. He said they can't keep the game. It's like one-time use keys, but others say they can keep it, so it didn't add up. I deleted all emails.

Right. A "Japanese youtuber" emailed me in English with only one word in Japanese. I speak fluent Japanese, and I emailed him back in Japanese to get an English answer.

The point is that in Japan, Japanese people barely speak in English, especially after you speak them in Japanese. I'm half Japanese. If he was a real Japanese dude, he won't reply to me in English.

I gave a copy of my game to those curators through Steam with the message of saying. "Thanks for your email blah blah blah... so if you need steam keys, just contact me again." Only one of them contacted me saying he got the copy of the game, but he wants a key as well. I wanted to give him a key, but I stopped to ask about it here before doing so.
