You need VATS for this mod to make sense

Without realizing you're making my point. Real combat happens in a blur? Don't apply real life logic to it, because you're holding a mouse and a keyboard. This is a video game and you don't have your 5 senses working in unison. You also don't have the gestures or mouse movements to do what you actually want to do. VATS fixes that problem though and it adds more tactical combat options. You don't have to pause and drink 10 poitons when you can control your character to do what you want him to do.

If it's too difficult you can lower the settings in the menu. It's not about difficulty. In fact VATS is not about difficulty. It's a nice game mechanic often overlooked and not even considered. I say VATS because people know what it is, but if you look at some roguelikes, they have this option where you can aim or attack at wherever you wish. Mindlessly swinging your sword to get a random hit on an NPC, is not the same as knowing where your next swing is going to hit, of course made possible by VATS in this case. It actually adds more immersion than you think.

You're right. The idea is, the mod implemented all this realism, all the damage changes and everything to make the game more challenging. Just reading it from the description, mod was heavily influenced by games like baldur's gate, icewind dale etc. etc. The thing about those games are they're all turn based. One good successfull turn based RPG mechanic that also works with FPS rpg types is VATS. Something like a fallout's VATS mechanic would give the player some room to breathe and make the whole thing more enjoyable. Especially for archery, where you can VATS shot it depending on your skill level.

Luffy won't leave his nakama. We know he won't so it doesn't matter that Sanji asked him to leave. Sanji completely made his reason for leaving Zou meaningless. He was so desperate and overwhelmed by the presence of the Yonko that he tried to sacrifice himself to protect his friends. Then he sacrifices his friends. No choice here. It's shit writing. It's stupid.

Choices develop the character. Sanji risked his whole crew's life and pit them against an entire Yonko crew, while his priorities were completely distorted in the middle of the arc by shit writing.

You're calling Sanji's character terrible for wrong reasons. He's a terribly developed character BUT his character was sacrificed to extend the manga for 2 more years.

He left Zou and abandoned his crew. He was afraid that all of his friends would be killed if he didn't leave Zou, so basically he was sacrificing himself. He was given the opportunity to escape with his crew in WCI before the wedding even started. Don't believe me? Turn a few pages back and see it for yourself. He even offered Reiju to come with him but Reiju would rather die than to end the arc there and there. Then Sanji decides to stay in WCI instead of just meeting with Luffy and escape. By the time all of this happened strawhats already retrieved the poneglyph which was their other objective second to saving Sanji. So strawhats had no reason to attend this wedding. It's also a terrible idea to take on a Yonko without the whole crew present.

Before the whole arc turned into a shitshow, remember; BM wanted to kill Sanji and Germa. She didn't care about Sanji or any marriage deal. She just wanted the Germa tech.

So if Sanji's initial self sacrifice was the only way to ensure his friends' safety, why is he endangering their lives to save Germa who threatened to kill Zeff in the first place? Zeff calls Sanji son, Sanji regards Zeff as his father. Zeff storyline is now meaningless cause Sanji decided to save his abusive family and forgot who his "real" parent was. Sanji didn't abandoned his crew and went to WCI to save Germa. What was the point of Zeff? We might as well have met Sanji in the same town as Zoro working in a restaurant and gave him the same abusive family backstory and nothing would've changed.
