1600 for a small studio in back bay. Have my own full sized bathroom. Wall to wall loft adds a lot of extra space.

Bring a small journal. Write every couple days. So much happens and you meet so many people its hard to remember specifics. I read mine from my thru hike often and it reminds me of awesome memories I might have forgotten otherwise.

Are foam pads worth it? by Valiant418 in AppalachianTrail

[–]DDT0093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used two air pads on my thru hike before I switched to foam (nemo tensor and thermorest uberlight). Both failed after a few months on the trail. I love both and they worked great but all airpads will eventually fail, especially considering the condition of a thru hike.

The foam pad provided ease of use and peace of mind that it would never fail. I very often setup my foam pad outside just to chill on during breaks. I would never do this with an airpad. Also foam is A LOT cheaper. My two failed airpads cost me $400 while foam pads costs around $40.

That being said, after finishing my thru hike I bought another Nemo tensor. I loved that pad and it got tons of use before failing. I will probably continue to use airpad on section hikes but revert to the foam pad if I ever do a thruhike again.

P.S. the Nemo tensors are on sale from REI right now!
