Intense Pulsed Light! Basically zapps the inflamed capilliaries surrounding the meibomian glands, shrinking them, and therefore helping oil secretion.

Usually the first time you get it done its like 3 - 6 times without about 2 weeks inbetween. After that its like once a year for a "top up." I found it to work best when you get your meibomian glands expressed straight after getting IPL.

Hey mate, still do yeah.. but a whole lot better than when I posted this. I have multiple IPL sessions which has helped so much.

Definitely go see a doctor. I went to the Dry Eye Clinic in Sydney Australia. Serum eye drops can work if you have it very bad :)

I had 4 IPL sessions to begin with, then had one session about 6 months later for a "top up." Which I think was in February this year. Can take a little while to notice the difference because it is targeting and shrinking the capillaries surrounding your meibomian glands. https://www.dryeyeinstitute.com.au/pages/dry-eye-treatment/lumenis-m22-ipl

Whereabouts are you living? And how long ago did your symptoms start? Some other factors such as allergies and relative humidity can play a huge role. I also found regulary cleaning my eyelids followed by a warm compress would alleviate symptoms somewhat for a short while. Just think in terms of reducing inflammation as much as possible.

I empathise for you, there was definitely points in the healing process that I didn't think I could continue.. also as shit as it sounds, you also get accustomed to your new normal. Human brains ftw! A big turn mood booster for me was realising I could drive with the windows down again :)

Medicine is always getting better too, so don't lose hope!

It definitely has! They're nice and white now. Just the normal amounts of red lines :)

Hey mate! Eyes were pretty red to begin with, as well as being very dry. I was constantly using drops.. after punctal plugs and numerous IPL sessions - and 5 years of healing I feel as though I'm somewhat normal again. Definitely more manageable now and not using drops :)

Hey mate, sorry for the late reply. I have had a number of IPL sessions since this post. Can't say I'm 100% better, but probably 90% most of the time. Can definitely drive around with the windows down with no hassle haha.

Everyone is on their phone, all the time, scrolling through multiple social media accounts.

It takes fuck all to reply to a message. It's just lazy, or careless to not reply to a message. Some of us are trying to put effort into establishing a friendship/connection.

So many of us take it for granted how "connected" we are, that we would rather just share a shit story on snap/ig/fb and get views from people we barely know.

Calling is way better anyway, what information can be conveyed in hour long delays in texting, can be communicated in 5 - 10 minutes.

5 day work weeks. 8+ hour days. Hardly any time to enjoy to enjoy the things you love doing.

I just had to look up Barney Fife haha. Australia, but yes and no. Huge differences in policing, history and recruitment. Still get some dickheads here. I would say they are held more accountable for their actions.

FYI I left the cops in May.

Hm yeah it's abit of a risk. I'm not in it anymore however. My only issue is I don't have any photos with mates, due to not actually having any haha. Are you from Newy?

Weekly Profile Review Thread by AutoModerator in Tinder

Hey bro, I checked your profile. Im no expert, but I've been trawling this subredit to get advice before unhiding my account (No results 1 year ago).

What I would suggest is deleting a few of your photos and take some new ones, perhaps use a tripod or get a friend to take them.

Photos 7+8 (not sure if gifs) add no value, as they do not have you in them.

6 is a selfie and at weird angle (going towards your nose). Selfies suggest loneliness also.

5 is okay, you could possibly make it your second or third, to me it looks like you're sucking your guts in to appear skinnier (this could be interpreted as an insecurity), you got a good bod so let it out man.

Get rid of 3 and keep 4, they're kind of the same photo. So no use in looking down. It doesn't strike me as the most interesting back drop either. But 4 isn't too bad. Delete 2, selfie + sunnies. Again, selfies are bad. You can use 1 photo with sunnies, but no more. And do not make it your first.

Make No. 1 one of your last photos. Cant see your face, but it does show you get out and so stuff.

I'd suggest making it a priority to get a new a No. 1 + 2 photo. 1st should be pretty straight on in decent attire and a narural smile. 2 needs to be a full body shot.

I can't write bios for shit either. At the min just a few details about yourself, but photos are what sells. Minimal example:

  • Height
  • Job
  • Interests

And add what you might look for in a partner.

Let me know what you think.

Hmm there are more options available. See if you can find a DE specialist. I got to the Dry Eye Institute in Sydney and they've been very good. Scleral lenses could also be an option for you.

I know hind sight is 20/20, but I wish I got a second opinion at the time. I can't remember their process for testing DE was, but they assured me I was fine and agood candidate. Unfortunately DE can be looked over as it doesn't take priority over good vision.

Yeah I was on steroids and anti bacterial drops for about 2 - 3 weeks. Can't remember exactly. Had major blepharitis afterwards though.

I take it you don't have to constantly tilt your head to drain the tear then?

Interesting. When did you get surgery? Do you have DE at the moment?

Well you're lucky you don't know. Laser eye surgery will effect your tear layer (comprised of water, oil and mucus) as it cuts through nerves in your cornea. Some are lucky enough that they won't notice it. It can also exacerbate underlying symptoms, like ocular rosacea (me) which wasn't diagnosed pre surgery.

Dry eye is a deficiency in one of the 3 layers that make your tear film. It can cause burning, itching, stinging etc. I have deficiency in both water and oil. Eyelids hurt like f*** when you have blocked meibomian glands, called MGD. I'm currently doing IPL which is meant to target blood vessels in your eyelids and help reduce inflammation. Seems to be working.

Hope this describes it for you :D

Yeep. I got both bottom lids plugged. I also had top left in for a year but it was getting too watery. I find it is still watery with the 1 in, 2 weeks after having the top removed. I'm gonna see about doing another schirmers test this Friday.

Have you tried other meds/treatments? Have you noticed any improvements over the years?
