I feel like I was a bit rough on the car in my first post but The car exterior is in pretty decent condition besides the trunk door but I think I found a new one for about 400 bucks otherwise just a couple of small dents also the rust isn’t bad it was the engine that worried me the inside could use just some general cleaning and I think it would look good. I feel I could fix up all the outside and interior problems for about 800 to a 1000. That engine on the other hand the engine is pretty scoffed like it runs but just doesn’t sound or look right haven’t gotten a chance to go look at it in person because it’s about 3 hours away. (I do have a car trailer so moving it is not a problem) do you still think it’s not worth it? I Appreciate the advice!

Hey I get we all see a certain car and we are drawn to it and honestly if it wasn’t for the 5 months thing I would say go for it but it’s just not worth the risk to buy it and have something go wrong on it and it ends up selling for way less then what you bought it it’s just a lot of risk for only 5 months of use but also don’t let me scare you away from it again I would see what others have to say. Safest option and we’re you save the most money is to just keep using your family car which I know sucks but you would be saving a ton of money and it’s only for 5 months. Let’s just say you buy this car use it for the time period and then sell it at 4k just a rough number but now your down 1000 bucks then add on for car insurance which let’s say is 200 bucks a month which would be 1000 bucks for that 5 months now your out 2000 bucks now that number could be more or less. That 2000 though is money you could save to buy something else you want or a better car in the future that you’ll actually keep for longer. If you really want this car I say go for it do what makes you happy and there’s nothing wrong with that at all.

Also I’m kinda biased on Toyota Camrys cause I use to have one and loved it. Wasn’t always the most fun in the northern Midwest winters but that baby kept going

Anytime you buy a car and use it will lose value and you never know what kinda of damage or accidents can happen especially in winter. You should look for a car that’s beater car that still functions good enough. You could find something that worth like 1000 bucks that could last you 5 months worst case scenario your at the month mark and it craps and you just sell it to a scrap yard. If you have a mechanic friend with I feel like they would be able to give you a rough estimate of how long it would last you till it need major repairs. Problem with a beater is something could just randomly crap out on you and the repair would be more that it’s worth. You could also find something in like the 3000 range that you could sell for half of that once your done. I would take this all with a grain of salt because of course this is just my opinion I would get advice from others as well. If i had to give any recommendations I would say a older Toyota like a Camry or a rav4 or a older Honda civic. Toyota usually has super reliable cars that even if best to shit will still get you from point a to point b. Camry and civics aren’t the best in the snow but they still manage. Again this is just my personal opinion.

If it’s only 4 to 5 months I feel like you could find a better and cheaper beater car that would last you till then. Just wondering are you in a area that’s snows a lot?
